they are just doing what they are told to do. |
Because Iraq was such a threat to the US way of life :1orglaugh
|
Fighting for your way of life? I guess that's true, since your way of life is perpetual war.

They are fightinf for bush way of life. But I don't think it is right that the soldiers get killed over what bush believe in.
|
As an X-soldier 95% of us didn't think it was right for Clinton to bomb the shit out of the former yugoslavia or putting US Troops under UN control but we did it and we're still proud Amercians service our country.
|
the amazing thing is that its cameljockeys with 40 years old weapon and dynamite strapped to their as, killing you.
We in denmark have a lot of soldiers down there as well.. and only 2 got killed sofar.. |

They're fighting to make war profiteers and oil companies more money. Anyone who thinks there's some noble cause to the war is naive. |

The question to ask is... why did our government choose to go to war with Irag? |

Sadly again, the very fact that a person is a politician means (at least as a group), that they can not be trusted with shit. That is not to say there are not some very honorable men in "politics" (of all flavors), but the track record leaves no doubt they are crass crap as a group. If they were operating within a commercial org, they'd all be sacked. On soliders, - they do as they are told, - that was the deal. Despite that, and also being paid peanuts for the "privilege" of serving their country, they are lied to as well. Rumsfeld happened to be addressing some recent grads into the forces last week. His speech to these men and women was an utter disgrace and loaded with Rumsfeld's blend of warped politics and distortions of truth - this was the basis he expected these people to serve their country? They'd be safer listening to bin Laden, the IRA or ETTA. (BTW.. I know nothing, but suspect their is more "honor" in these terrorist orgs than in government). OK.. Gittin to the point :-) You are correct in that politicians, for their own perverse reasons, can end up destroying elements of a nation that others have fought for, - the US is not alone in this, - it's just the human nature of the political beast. |

Factions
The Jimmy Carter faction was trying to get us weaned off of oil in 1977. The Reagan/Bush/Cheney oil people are the dinosaurs of our age. Rather than spend $1,000,000,000,000 (One trillion!) dollars looking for solar/renewable solutions, they've spent it (and in the case of Cheney, helped embezzle some of it into their own pockets via Halliburton) trying to conquer Iraq so as to keep the last drops of oil for themselves. That crew is greedy AND dumb. Mix that with scary power and their realization that AT LEAST 49% of the US people are on to their "game"..... and we are all in a precarious and fucked up situation right now...
PS...I do support the troops and hope they all come home safely, and soon! |

ahahahahahaha lunatic You have serious problems man. You think anyone is going to give a fuck that you and Pathfinder insult them? You seriously must think this is kindergarten. I'll fill you in on something, no one gives a flying fuck what either of you stupid bastards has to say. You talk so much shit and then you hide every time you're asked to back up anything you say. If you think I or anyone else would leave or change their name because of any stupid shit you say, you are in a fantasy world. You're probably already on nearly as many ignore lists as Pathfinder is. |
Back to the subject...
Iraq, It's NOT just about OIL http://www.thewinnipegpages.com/foru...1113883752.jpg :D |
It's certainly not just about oil. There's no question oil is a factor, but it's not the only one. A lot has to do with empire, American hegemony. These are countries whose governments don't do exactly what America wants them to do, countries whose governments don't let American corporations control the resources and labour situations... every weak country who fits that description is at risk of being invaded. Afghanistan, Iraq, Haiti, Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela, many others. Iraq was a good prize because they kept China from getting that oil.

FYI the current "war" has nothing to do with "our way of life"

"So this is how liberty is to end, with thunderous applause?"
Is this: A) What Padme says when Sidious turns the Republic into the Empire B) What half of the US says when Bush invades other nations and turns his own nation into a quasi-military state and institutes the patriot act. |
It's a terrible time to be alive. The world is shit right now, everything is shit.
|
This is how I see it. Bush wantīs to force Iraq to become a democratic nation, because they are a threat to the american way of life. I agree that democracy is the right way, but I really donīt get why "democratic" Bush disregarded what the UN said, and went and bombed the living daylight out of Iraq. No wonder some people in Iraq, and muslims in general are pissed of. Innocent people were killed.
And to believe you can just force the democratic system on someone is relly stupid. How manycar bombs go of every day and kill even more innocent people? How many people in the States are living in poverty because of all the money Bush has requested to fight the evil of Iraq? How is the general American financial situation today? I wish that Bush would have a clue and start focusing on the AMERICANS.. After all he is the president of the USA and not Iraq. What good does it do to fight a phantom menace if your own people arenīt doing well? |
