That's 100% Jim (and Pam) backstage at a show. This was during the period were Jim started "letting himself go" in the looks dept. He'd go days without showers and live off of Budweiser and Marlboro reds.

Morrison was a Republican from Florida. Hendrix was also a Republican who volunteered for Vietnam - where Jimi served as a paratropper with several confirmed kills.

Both changed their ways thru LSD. Morisson soon was against ALL conformity. Hendrix shifted from 'Nam vet to peace loving hippie. Near the end of his life there were signs that Jimi was gonna support the Black panther party - probably didn't sit well with CIA and FBI. The government had files on Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison. Odd how they all died about a year apart...

Jim was definitely apart from the hippy culture - the hippy music and culture was all about peace and love at the time - all of Jim's lyrics were centered more around death, chaos & dissonance, which made him the antithesis of the hippy belief system. I really think the Doors were the first band to deal with such dark topic matter in modern rock music.

He would have been better off if he stuck to the beer, he might be around today.

Why is it that people think that someone like Jim, did not like to do certain things for himself.

Rockstars and celebs are so pampered. I saw Janet Jacxkson at the Grammy Awards a few years back and she was being carried around backstage for an hour by her bodyguard. The rule was that her feet weren't supposed to touch the floor unless absolutley neccesary. True story.

He's dead. Has been dead. Me and Jim share the same birthday 25 years apart though. Sam Kinnison also had the same birthday so I'm not so sure that's a good sign for me.

Not to mention that bands in th 60s and 70s (Sabbath, Leppelin, Floyd, The Who, etc) released albums every 9 months to a year. Shitty bands now take 3 to 5 years between releases. "Chinese Democracy" by Guns 'N Roses has been in production for over 13 years at a cost of over $13,000,000 so far...

All the bands back then played their own instruments and wrote their own music as well. Come to think of it, they actually used real instruments, not sampled shit.
