LOL by 300K difference, for the Longest Yard it's a premiere day and SW3 has been in the cinemas over a week now. I don't see TLY grossing 50 million on the opening day :glugglug

axelcat 05-29-2005 08:33 AM

thats cause everyones already seen it, idiots

I could care less what movie is #1 week to week, because none of that revenue goes into MY pocket. The fact that the media even discloses weekly box office figures is a tragedy, because consumers use it as a quality measurement. Poor box office must mean the movie sucks right?

In the case of Office Space, The Big Lebowski, and about a hundred other movies that everyone should see at least once, it killed them because their "critical opening weekends" weren't large enough, or their "second weekend drop off" was too large from week one.

The studios manipulate this system far too much.

pornstar2pac 05-30-2005 04:06 AM

the longest yard is in my pants

StuartD 05-30-2005 04:11 AM

uhmm... counting hasn't finished yet, you're making statements on estimated numbers, and according to that boxofficemojo site, SW3 did better on Saturday and hasn't been tallied for Sunday yet so who's to say that it really did worse?

Anyway, it doesn't really matter... who cares which movie is number 1 this week-end?

Vitasoy 05-30-2005 05:02 AM

I still haven't seen the longest yard.. weill def check it out this week.
