nuffin, in fact I dont even smoke. Drinking cappucino. Not everyone does weed here, although its easy, Im not in Amsterdam and still there are at least like 3 smartshops here and koffieshops as well. They even have ads in the local papers.

I can grab some from my neighbour he has plants in his garden.

1) How come a US based paint company is not only named after, but uses as a mascot, a Dutch Child.
2) How come that child looks like a little homo
3) If two people go out and "go Dutch", it means they are paying for their own shit, so are Dutch people Frugal, or do they just think it is bullshit to buy a chick dinner to get into her pants?

Thanks.

TDF 05-29-2005 04:32 AM

how many paid of wooden shoes do u own?

1. they do? prolly a dutch ancestor, many companies here old ones use kids for their logo, most of them replaced those logos though

2. tell me ill look :)

3. dutch ppl are known to be zuinig aka they count every penny. Thats not completely true but the more you go to the west the worse it is. Im in the south but from the west. Ppl here always tell this. When theres a bday, they (Hollanders aka from the west = south and north holland the provinces) put a plate on the table with EXACTLY 5 cookies when there are 5 ppl. If there are more you cannot take more, theyll take the plate and put it away. That doesnt happen here in the south. But yes, splitting costs is common here for some. I think it sucks to take a girl out and have her pay half, but many do.

none, noones wears them anymore, apart from some old fashioned farmers. Its hell to walk in them takes months to get used to it. Its from a time where ppl would take their shoes off before entering a house, its easier if you wear klompen/wooden shoes. Youd be surprised how much money ppl here spend on shoes.

It depends where you live. And ofcourse anyone under say 25 doesnt do this anymore. But go to 50+ ppl on their bday.

Other example : funerals. What do you get there, coffee and cake. In the south they prepare a whole meal, vlaai, bread, beer, cigars. To honour the way he/she lived. Ive never seen anything else then coffee and 1 slice of cake.

Other example : go to the theatre, Amsterdam, Rdam, did you see any plates with free cake or cookies? Here they do. And the ppl grabbing 10 slices are always from the West :)

Really :)

Knew this was coming lol.

Ive got many german friends. And still. They even have a word for germans here, not in a nice way.

In general theyre cool, esp ppl from 30-, theyre sick n tired of hearing the same old shitty jokes. I was making coffee just now and thought OK what if someone asks. So heres why I dislike some germans.

When I go shopping in dusseldorf they have these ex-war victims, leg shot off etc, they beg for money, have signs "I AM A WAR VICTIM" Germans give them money, esp the older ones. Do you realize these guys were nazis and were on the wrong side? They still get applause. Thats what I dislike.

Between the legalized pot smoking and prostitution, when you travel to other countries that don't allow this, does it feel restricted to you? Close minded? Or do you not notice any difference?

Sure I notice the difference, as soon as I cross the border (theres nothing there anymore no customs etc and I cross it like 5 times a day), I see weedshops german plated cars and like 25 sexclubs.

They smoke weed in Germany and Belgium too, the clubs in Belgium are all covered. Cant see shit, same for the sexshops, windows are covered, theyre not here. Anyone can see the dildos and buttplugs.

I dont feel restricted no, I mean holland belgium germany luxembourg thats all within like 6-700 miles so its not like you have to travel around the globe to get weed or a hooker....

BRISK 05-29-2005 05:05 AM

BRISK 05-29-2005 05:08 AM

It's funny, because business wise I've always found people from the west easier to do business with. People from the south and especially from the north really think everything's for free. People in the north are even proud of their zuinigheid.

But speaking in personal terms, aka funerals or birthdays you're probably right.

The whole weed thing does that. They even have special xray machines at Amsterdam Airport if youre from Aruba or the Antillen. Bolletjesslikkers they call them here, ppl who swallow small balls with cocaine, shit them out sell them here. If they crack youre history and prison awaits if they find out.

They know Holland is weed paradise so they check and doublecheck. Annoying sometimes true, I get the same when entering the States

Isn't the owner of Albert Heijn the same guy that owns "Albertsons" in the US? That's what someone told me but I don't know if that's true.

More questions:
Have you ever been to the red light district and "sampled the goods"?
What percentage of Dutch men do you estimate go see prostitutes there since it's legal?
What type of brand name clothes are "in" right now in Holland for both guys and girls?

Also, most Dutch people are VERY tall. I am barely 5 ft tall and while I was there practically almost everyone was around 6 ft tall... I was basically a midget over there ...

Nope I googled they own this : Foodtown, Finast, Tops, BI-LO, Giant and Edwards. AH is a big company, typical Dutch very wealthy family based company, like Heineken.

Been to the RL yes, you cant avoid it if youre in Adam, not sampled no, if you see the girls there you know why :)

Lotsa man do no idea how many, we even have forums here where they discuss what club what girl etc

Clothes, hmm depends what age, but brands are pretty hot, smart stuff like Boss (Juicy wears that too) and basically anything thats hot in the US. Holland is Americanized. Very. If its a success in the states theyll start it here.

DutchTeenCash 05-29-2005 05:31 AM

I've been following your thread with great interest. Very nice. AH is owned by it's mothercompany called Ahold. Ahold owns much more than the companies you just Googled up. However they don't own Albertsons.

And it's not true that if something is a success in the states they'll start it here. It's actually the other way around believe it or not. With many products, they take Holland as an indicator for lots of huge countries around the world.

phogirl69 05-29-2005 05:36 AM

thanks for the links! I am not Dutch, but I was born there and lived there until I was twelve, ( I came to America in 1989) and I remember back in the 80's Dutchies were not that much into fashion... I think back then it took much longer for stuff like that to cross over.

There were no stores like Mango over there when I was growing up. I guess things have changed. I do remember a store called Bijenkorp or something like that ... and H & M... I guess i have a real good memory... lol

they do? hmm nice :) and yes Ahold owns a lot, in CA and South America as well. Unbelievable how big these guys are. Prolly the richest company in Holland next to Heineken...
