Server Probs - Help - too much traffic

Ok, kinda having some issues and need some advice.

I am on a dedicated server with a friend. Pretty good server 2.4 celeron, good memory etc.

I got some listings at worldsex and seems everytime I get listed my pages go down after a few hours. I can see the pages when I look at them and talked to Pierre and he said his I guess bot says that it cannot connect. I am sure his bot is excellent so I am guessing my pages are actually down and I just am missing them when they are.

So, that leaves me to believe that the server is not handling the massive traffic well. I am set up for 1200GB month and it should handle that. OR not?

That is my problem. I dont know why the pages are not showing up. I am on a 10mps line but thinking of moving to 100mbs line on the server. Does anyone think that might help? Does anyone think the server is just not powerful enough in the cpu part? I am totally confused and not sure what my next step is. I sent an email to them to see if they have a clue but basically I am either looking at a new host or looking to move up to 100mbs. It has 512 ram also, I am not sure if that is the problem but I think that should be fine.

Any suggestions on what might be causing this would be great. It is hosted by a solid company and I do not think that is the problem.

Thanks.

well, if your server should handle 1200gig/month it realy shouldnt matter if they come in 3 days or over 3 weeks.....it should still be able to hndle it, if not, switch to phatservers :winkwink:

Switch to 100 Mbps to handle bursty traffic spikes, the CPU can handle it fine as long as you're talking about static pages. That CPU could easily max out the 100 Mbps line. If you're doing multiple database calls for each page, that's another story.

Yup, had same problem with my server (im not submiting galls, but mysql was killing me). I hired someone to optimize my server for me. It cose my only $75, and it has worked wounders for me. Server is 10x faster than it was before and handles great. I recommend this guy below and tell him you're problem. He will optimize the server for you're needs.

Good luck. :thumbsup Also you might want to upgrade to 1gig ram.
