Advise Please: Fill Light for VX2100?
What do you shooters use?
Does the HVL-20DWZ do the job, or do I have to look at more powerfull lights with belt battery packs? Thanks |
depends how far away or close you will be and how long you are shooting. I would use some difusing cloth on it so you get no harsh shadows .

focusable lowel lights, fren-l 650's are very good with consistant color balance. just enough light for fill, too much light and you lose the modeling, you should have some shadow, the skin will look better and more natural. in gonzo you try to give the illusion of reality. |

well, lots of ways to light it to be sure. alex derenzy was an old fashioned guy. he never did that, but that was pre-digital. he used a very wide fast lens on an angenieux 16mm cam and got in close, many times with window light. that was his modus operandi for most of the "rex boersky" stuff. and his rosebud series (lesbian stuff) was just about the best gonzo i've ever seen. |

go to home depot and buy the 6volt sealed batteries they use in emergency lighting, cobble three of them together, change the voltage you need with a variable resister, put then all on a contractor's tool belt. then you can shoot all day long. use a motorcycle battery charger for charging. more juice and 1/10th the price. |
We use a lowel pro camera mounted light, works like a charm for us
