Talk about buying a sweet deal - i just bought 2 timeshares
 

ok, i used to sell timeshares many moons ago, set new sales records with my sales methods. Begged by disney and other to come work for them - out of that now but i know the contracts and the game.

in my town there's a timeshare resort - i wouldn't even think of buying a week there cept ONE week a year - the icelantic festival week. the hotels are booked 5 years in advance for that week. and this is the best hotel in the best location of all. the resort didn't even want to sell that week (they can rent for huge dollars) but i found a salesman who's the son in law of the owner and he hadn't had a sale in 6 months - he was starving. he asked me for $38K for both - i told him if they sold it for $30K i'd buy it right there and then - he hemmed and hawed for about 3 hours back and forth with the owner and then took it - and even let me put the WHOLE thing on my amex.

fuck - i can rent EACH unit for about $3,000 a year on that week - not going to though - i need the rooms for friends i bring into town that week. but i'll never fucking loose at that price if i ever want to sell them. and cause i bought 2 they let me have a combined mauitence fee of $570 instead of $400 each. I couldn't beleive that - he kept making the deal better and better.

and i'm a member of RCI now - i dont' have to trade anything and i have access to all the excess inventory of all rci resorts now at maitence fee rates.

That sounds like a very cool timeshare and I'm off to find out about that festival now.

festival hasn't changed in 100 years - that's the aug long weekend here. my timeshare contract stats i have it the icelantic festival week though - not the specific dates - to be sure. I covered that base. ;)

the area is the largest icelantic settlement outside of iceland

At some point -- you're not going to want/need it. In the meantime, your "mauitence" fee will go through the roof. Good luck selling privately.

any other week will be hard to sell - that week will be EASY to sell, at a profit.
all hotels in that town and surrounding areas are sold out 5 years in advance.

It's just been proven to be an unwise "investment" in most cases (for dopes that don't do any research) and there are a TON of dopes around here that follow blindly.

While I don't agree with everything Sleazy says or does-far from it, this thread is certainly no more worthless than 90% of the other threads created here.

It's news in his life, that some people may find interesting.

Not to mention a nice break from the 2257 threads.

P.S. I know of the festival of which he speaks, and yes, I AM jealous. Not so much the time share itself, but the notion that he's guaranteed to see all the hot Icelandic babes every damn year.

i agree most are not worth it - but like anything know your marketplace.

congrats on your new time share..good thing you got it durign the festival..my parents had one in the bahamas and we never used it..was a waste of $$ altho we had access to any of the time shares in the world that they owned but finding available time was a pain..they were never avail :(

i've always avoided timeshares like the plague. sounds like this is a good deal though.

i sold them and i'd agree. this week is different though - supply and demand.

thats great that you don't have to trade I know that trading within the RCI system can be a pain in the ass sometimes - although their implementation with HiltonClub is pretty sweet :thumbsup

I don't know much about time shares...is this a yearly maintenance fee? Those I know who have invested in time share programs have mixed feelings. If you have $30,000 to throw away, then enjoy yourself. :thumbsup
