New CCBill ACH System

we posted the below in the admin earlier, i thought i would give gfy a heads up about this. We have spent a lot of time/resources on this and the results have been great...wanted to let everyone know:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING NEW CHANGES IN ACH PROCESSING
Over the course of the past few months, we at CCBILL.com have actively been testing effective ways to creatively fight online check fraud, while still maintaining our client?s ACH revenue opportunities with a fair and efficient Online Check processing system.

After careful beta-testing, and with tremendous results, we are happy to announce that beginning on Wednesday, June 1, 2005; we will institute a new transactional processing procedure for Online Check (ACH) transactions.

This new Online Check transaction process has shown to increase thru-put, decrease online check fraud, and lower the percentage of check declines, by utilizing new technology and Email validation for some online check customers.

Integration of this new process will be seamless for you the Client. The only noticeable change will be for a percentage of Online Check Customers who fall into a certain risk class and will now be required to fulfill a quick and easy Email Validation process by following these simple steps:

1) Entering their valid email address on their online check signup form
2) Retrieving their CCBill E-mail Validation email, from their email client
3) Clicking on the provided link within the Validation email, which will take them to a CCBill transaction confirmation screen
4) Completing their purchase by clicking a Process Transaction button on the transaction confirmation screen

As always, the CCBill Customer Support team will be fully prepared for this change, and will be available 24-hours a day, 365-days a year to assist your Online Check customers with any billing support questions they might have.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact [email protected].

Many thanks for your attention to this matter.

We abandoned accepting checks years ago, because we were getting a 25% returned check ratio, and that didn't appeal to us, especially since they had access the entire time until their check bounced. We switched to Glo-Bill until they went belly up, because they had a system in place where the member didn't get access until the check cleared, which we liked. What is the average bounced check percentage now, and what will this new system be, approximately?

Less fraud and chargebacks. Thats great!

is it possible to suggest a chargeback rate improvement on this new system over the old one?

Jensen 05-26-2005 11:05 AM

while i don?t want to throw any concrete numbers out, check returns on new transactions (not rebills) are high relative to what webmasters are accustomed to from their credit card transactions (refunds/chargeback's). My guess is that, across the different processors, (new check sales only), the return rate ranges from 20% to 50%. The new system should improve both the throughput of ach transactions (not as many declines), and at the same time improve the existing return rate. Results may differ across accounts; perhaps you would consider reevaluating accepting checks through CCBill with the advent of this new system. Feel free to icq me for specific details 45471840

As for waiting until the member has access, much of what we process are impulse buys where the consumer may not want to wait 3 or more days for the check to clear before they can access the content?the flip side to this, of course, are the check returns, the release of the new ACH system should help curb this
