Best way to check galleries for viruses?

Is there a good way to make sure you list no virus galleries?
My antivirus program doesn't detect all of them and some
of my surfers complained about it...

Goose 05-26-2005 11:43 AM

please, this is really important...has anybody an idea?

Goose 05-28-2005 02:57 AM

Can I only hope my antivirus detects the virus on the gallery?

Fucksakes 05-28-2005 03:00 AM

don't you have a script to check your galleries hourly, daily etc... for things like this?

I image ppl can add viruses to there galleries after they get posted or some other neat trick..

cyber_ninja 05-28-2005 03:00 AM

open them and see if you get a virus

unless he has an anti virus program in his tgp script

Goose 05-28-2005 03:21 AM

fucksakes is right...I do check each and every gallery...sometimes I don't detect virus, but then a surfer gets a virus alert message

only allow html (no iframes though) in teh gallery .. have a script to check it or do it yoruself (look at teh source) .. once you accept the gallery .. have a exact copy of teh html (or size of teh file) and have a scriptr check it once a while .. if nothing has been changed.

xclusive 05-28-2005 03:38 AM

don't allow Java

so I'd fine the applet that activates the virus in the source code?
so if this one is clean, the whole gallery is?

Goose 05-29-2005 03:51 PM

so is it possible to check for viruses by checking the source code??

It may be clean when you check it but they may add a virus to the gallery after it is listed. You need to do daily checks. If your tgp script can detect changed galleries it would alert you and you could investigate. If a surfer notifies you ask for the URL and blacklist the mofo that is pissing off your surfers.

If the surfer has active spyware on his computer that can detect ADULT WORDS in web pages or obviously named images that spyware can popup ads, dialers etc. Even based on hostname that the surfer is visiting. They may be COMING to your website and already have been infected.

Judas_Hansen 05-29-2005 04:06 PM

it would take forever... Maby you could make a software, that spideres the webpage THROUGH the browser, every XXX minutes.. and then se if it detect anything.

Does your script have an option to check galleries regulary? If so it should be able to flag it or remove it if the page changes. ... so if you have that option, turn it on.

well I don't accept many gallery submissions so it would be possible for me to check them manually. All I need to know is: if the source code is clean, is the whole gallery clean?

use Mcafee firewall and virusscan.
the firewall wil tell you you got an incoming trojan.
if it still goes through, use sybot to remeve them.
and a virusscan at your admin/local settings/ usually.

but some fuckers detect your ip when you review the galleries so you may still get a clean page while everyone else gets a trojan... common practice nowadays
