Mostly taxation reasons whenever me and the homies get into this debate.
It's a very versatile plant, that will grow almost anywhere, with minimal effort, sure if you want the dank you gotta groom it and baby it, but just trying to get a crop, you could drop a see anywhere. How do you tax a weed? Literally???

Bravo to every 215 card holder in cali. I had the wonderful experience of being with a friend in court a few months back for traffic school. He busts out a sack during break, and rolls up a canseco size joint... and to my shock starts puffin right in front of the bailiff. The next few minutes were the best of my life as I watched them take his sack, cuff him, yell and scream a bit, and then let him go as he shows them his 215 card allowing him to posess and use his medicine as prescribed by a doctor.

1st offense $100 fine no jail time or probation
2nd offense $200 fine no jail time or probation

I don't smoke but I always assumed that the reason it's illegal here is that too much money is being made under the table by those who could make it legal. If it's not something to do with money it doesn't make sense that it's illegal and alcohol is not.
