While I am not disputing that some of these are, well, heh.
There are some of us who have come and gone a number of times over the years, and who cares about post counts, and time registered. There are as many noobs/surfers who have been around longer, on GFY registered than some of the kings of this industry. When someone registered their latest handle really doesn't mean shit. I think you can tell by talking to someone, via ICQ, or one-on-one if they are a person of the industry, and in the know, or just some flash in the pan noob. It's not mystery science theatre to realize the board's been infected with surfers, and noobies. These are some of the same people who can't wait to use, "OWNED" every time someone fucks up, or they find a new image they can type it on, and post it. They are also the people who contact you on ICQ, and then pull up your WHOIS w/i three lines of dialogue. Like you need to confirm who you are. Uh, yeah.. :321GFY |
I are n00b

I've been in the biz 9 years and just registered this handle yesterday.
Reg date and post count don't mean shit. |

That being said, I definitely fall under the category of 'worthless whores/turds' but not a n00b.

I'm not talking about the guys you mentioned in the original post, but alot of these high post count guys do nothing to earn the respect that they demand. And they do demand it.
Not to long ago I learned that post counts and registration dates really dont equal success and knowledge in this industry. There are some people with high post counts and early reg dates that I really respect, but it isn't because of that. To many of these dudes on gfy are more interested in being thought of as a big dawg than doing the things necessary to earn the reputation. |

What did you do then? Cause most of the guys I posted are retired with their millions. |

I just used adult as a way to send traffic to a mainstream internet design company (got no market leads out of it... lol) It was late 97 or early 98 when I first started sending traffic to an affiliate program (3 cents per click @ call-girls.net) Made a whack of sign-ups with their celeb banners and then the whole Pamela Anderson thing hit and it really took off from there. Never capitalized on the opportunity to get big because I was still in high-school at the time, didn't have a CC, etc and basically used the cash on the side as beer & pizza money while I was working for a paintball place. Really basic stuff in the beginning, spamming IRC channels, spamming to AltaVista when they were indexing on a daily basis, galleries using stolen content from Karup's & Gamma. I didn't really deal with others in the industry, I would peek at YNOT every once in a while and read Andy Dunn's newsletter but that was about it until NetPond. |
No love for the noobs!
