Serious question for the search engine guys....

Could one of you please tell me how i can have a domain listed in the top 5 of a search engine for 5 diffrent keywords and have no links backs to it. I never traded links with anyone or sent traffic to it. I was going thru domains to sell and i just saws some nice numbers from the search engines. Now i am really baffled here :helpme

Try not to analyze it too much. I have a similar thing going on w/ a couple keywords.

If it's Yahoo search engine they have had some fucked up shit going on lately. If it's google, well I dunno but congrats.

It certainly is possible, chances are there are links just that the search engines haven't updated their backlinks. Its also possible someone submitted your site directly to a search engine. Also remember that Google is now a registrar and knows every domain that exists. There's many possible reasons, post your domain and a more useful answer can be given.

This happened several months ago but they don't plan on selling domains. It was mostly a move to get access to the WHOIS database. Probably to link up who owns which domains and an effort to stop blackhat SEO by blacklisting all domains owned by the same party. I honestly don't know what they're doing with the data but I doubt they're using it to sell domains to the consumer market.
