Airline lost your luggage when traveling overseas?
A family member of mine is in Europe right now on a 10 day tour.
The price of the tour was around $5000. The airline that misplaced the luggage is Delta. For 6 days so far she has been without her luggage. She is basically there with nothing. One outfit. She bought more of course, but it is hard to stop and shop for clothes because the tour constantly on the move. Anyone have this happen to them? What is the recourse here? What can she expect to get out of the tour company or delta when she got back? If it were me... I would settle for nothing less than the price of the tour refunded in full. 6 days without my luggage?? Ugh. |
my cousin and my aunt had the same experience...they talked to the manager and they promised to look for their bags...after three days, they delivered it to their hotels with a free roundtrip.

Alysha and I went to Berlin, Germany last October, and Delta/Air France lost 2 of our 4 bags. The two bags we had left had zero clothes, so we were a little upset. After talking to half a dozen French speaking customer service reps and just as many supervisors, they finally located our bags in Paris, and had them at our hotel within 12 hours.

12 hours sucks.... 3 days is much worse :(.
It has been 6 days in an unfamiliar country for my family member without her bags. It could be worse I suppose. She could go the whole 10 day trip with no bags. :warning |
Someone who works for an airline told me that you should always attach your personal info to the inside of the bag since ID tags on the outside can come off. Then if it's lost it becomes much harder to get it back to the owner.

Solid advice though. :thumbsup |
On a 2 week modeling trip to Budapest Liv's luggage was lost for about a week. The airline offered to compensate her $75 even though she had to go shopping and buy new things to wear, makeup etc which was more than $75. Luckily the company that she was working for ALSScan at the time picked up most of the tab.
Some airlines are better than others at dealing with there fuckups, Delta unfortunately is one of the worst with customer service and I think Continental is one of the best in my experiences. |
In 1934, the United States ratified the Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Relating to International Transportation by Air, October 12, 1929 (i.e. "the Warsaw Convention")
The U.S. first amended its participation in the treaty by rules that became effective on March 4, 1999. Liability is limited to $9.07 per pound, unless the passenger declares a special value and pays a surcharge. Passengers must complain about the loss within seven days. So most likely the air line will pay her $500-$1000 for the missing bag's. I know that aint much. Her other option is too claim the lose on her homeowners insruance. Thats the only thing she can do. |
US airways was gonna go bankrupt do to luggage lost when all there rampers called in sick
