Being Obese is NOT a disease!
Damn, I love this guy's blog:
http://angryfacecentral.blogspot.com...y-obesity.html ^^^ a quote from that entry ^^^ Has anyone ever seen a fat Amish person? NO. And that's due to the fact that: -The Amish don't eat McDonalds 3-5 times a week -The Amish don't sit around eating ice cream and wondering why their thighs are the size of tree trunks -The Amish don't sit around all day watching tv and brushing the crumbs off their ever growing belly That's a freakin' funny blog.... especially when he writes about the fat neighborhood kid (he calls webster) that he gives a hard time. |
We have become a society where everything now isn't our fault, and technology can help out with so many things. You have gone from 180 to 410 and now have to be airlifted out of your bed by a crane just to get up? It isn't your fault you have a disease, here's an electric scooter to wheel around in you sick sick man.
Your 12 year old daughter is 180 pounds, oh it isn't their fault or yours, its that evil bastard Ronald McDonald and his henchmen Grimus. He's the one that got your kids to eat at McDonalds 7 times a week. Here's a word of advice, instead of suing McDonalds try cooking your family a healthy meal you lazy fucks. |
so . . . . alcoholism isn't a disease?
|
fat people are running out of excuses

i'm overweight. it's not a disease. it's a lack of proper diet and excercise. let's stop making up diseases to feel better.

im amish

- Huge baggy jeans that he had to pick up every 3 steps to keep from falling down
- A Sean John jersey - Trucker Hat cocked sidewasy on his head - Pube goatee and mustache - heavy gold chain with an iced out cross I walked up to greet the guy and was assaulted by his heavy dousing of cologne. It was a mixture of Axe Body Spray and whatever Wal Mart probably had in its $9.95 Colonge Kit section. As he was walking towards me he had the following pace: |
i could spend hours on this blog. the guy has some talent.

Who's to say diseases can't be brought on....
Heart disease can be brought on or avoided...why can't we throw obesity into that same category |
Quote:
Sorry, did not answer my question |
The IRS designated it a disease in 2002, so taxpayers could deduct the cost of weight-loss programs prescribed by a doctor.
|
The Amish aren't fat because they wake up at 4am & work until they pass out every single day. About once a month they have a shindig in a barn, that consists of other physical activities & feats of strength.
If we were all hunters & gatherers like our ancestors...we'd be aight |

Which proves being obese isn't a disease... otherwise all that work wouldn't fuckin' matter. |
....and last time i checked...i've seen some rather ROTUND amish women to say the least...the men somehow stay string beans...but those women are big enough for quadruple penetration :thumbsup

Wow, looks like genetics dont play a role at all. Down with fatty! :1orglaugh

I read an article by this psychologist that even refused to say that the mentally ill suffered from a desease. He called a disfunction, a chemical imbalance and said that the word "desease" should be used only for ailments caused by an 3rd party such as viruses and bacterias. Deseases you can cure, things like alcoholism you can learn to live with |

hmmm, so colds, AIDS, polio . . . just like alcoholism I guess |
Quote:
It is not a chemical imbalance in your brain. Listen I'm not saying that alchoholists have them self to blame or anything, it is just unfortunate that they happen to have a brain that is not suited to the consumption of alchohol. I also realise that some people do have a problem with food, wether it is eating too much or too little, also explained by how their brain functions. All I am saying is that I don't think it is a desease. It is actually more serious than most deseases if you ask me since there is very little to do about it, there is very little chance that they will ever discover a magic drug that cures disorders like alcoholism or eating problems since they might be caused by some many different things, while with AIDS polio etc they might actually be able to do that (hopefuly) |
People are fat because they want to eat, and do nothing. And they drink because they want to.
|
i lost 7kg in 2,5 weeks!
|
No it's not a disease, but you have to treat is as one to fix anything. I was up to almost 400 pounds and am now down to 330. The only way i've done it is to tell my self that I have a disease and that eating certain foods will only make the disease worse. It starts when your a kid too. Eating fast food and all that. It's hard to break the mold if you've only been taught one way to eat.

I agree that a lot of obese people make excuses and call obesity a disease; however, there are diseases that contribute to obesity, such as Polycistic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). With the onset of menstruation, rather than the female body using stored fat for energy, it pumps out more insulin, thus holding onto the fat. I was an active child whose parents cooked healthy meals. Had I been diagnosed with PCOS at a young age, I would have been properly medicated and would not have had to deal with the ridicule from my peers (and adults).
I hope this information helps people better understand the plight of some overweight people. :) |
um...i grew up around the Amish and yes, I have seen many fat Amish people.
In addition to which you may very well have a disease or a condition that leads to it in the first place. I have made this offer you YOU before..please come with me to my doctor that treats me for the polycystic ovarian syndrome that I have and the report back what he says in regards to its connection to my weight. |
ah...Mrs Lenny got there first..but I am sure we are making it up. Add to it that the medication methods for it are all very new and frankly most don't work - yet.

There are three grades of obesity. I'd say someone who is grade 3 may have something wrong with them aside from binge eating.
I know someone who has been diagnosed with having a very slow metabolism and doctors have been able to do nothing about it for 30 years. She is huge, yet eats like me and I'm close to being underweight. Then again I've got another severely obese friend who just wont' stay on diets, but when she is on them she loses 50... 75 pounds and then suddenly goes off the diet and gains it all back. |

I'd pick fat if I had to make a choice. :1orglaugh pizzahut.com kicks ass! |
no it is not a disease, and like asked before in this thread NO alcholism is also not a disease,
calling shit a disease is just a cop out saying you have 0 will power, these type of people will be addicted to anything if its not food or alchohol they will find something else. i dont feel sorry for these people at all, you make the choices to put the food in your mouth, you make the choices not to excersize so its not a disease, same goes for alchoholics. |
Here are the facts about obesity, alcoholism, depression, and ADD (attention deficit disorder).
The majority of the population that says they have any of the 4 above (tacked on with "disease" at the end) are just fooling themselves and they lack self motivation. However, as with nearly EVERYTHING in life, there are exceptions, RARE, but there are biological exceptions that can render any attempts to defeat the "issue" by the subject, as useless. But because people hear of these rare obscure cases, they blow it out of proportion and associate their (quite often short lived) attempts to defeat the issue, with being an incurable disease that they must live with - because it makes people feel better knowing they can't do anything about it, rather than believing they lack motivation. The government started this trend by declaring anything and everything a disease so that they can introduce DRUGS to "help", which = big money. Why must the government declere these things "Diseases"? Because it is the only way drug licenses can be granted to "treat" something. So I can tell you as a fitness trainer, many of you are just fooling yourselves, many of you aren't fooling yourselves but don't care - well you fucking should! This is serious shit, you only live once, you will want to be around as long as you can to enjoy everything life has to offer, your children, grandchildren, etc... /end :winkwink: |

I love how it's always the skinny fuckers with high metabolisms that eat pretty much anything and everything they want that always know the "best" solution for someone who is overweight too. I love that. If you've been fat, and changed yourself, and lost the weight, then talk. If you have to constantly monitor what you eat and how much to stay thin, then talk. Until then, shut the fuck up about something you are totally clueless about.
|
And you're right, it's not a disease, but it IS a mental problem. Don't know if they classify as a "disease" but it's the mental part that has to be changed, not the body.
|
exercise does wonders
|
Quote:
BUT I don't blame it on some "disease". That is a fucking lie. I blame it on myself: sitting at a computer, eating foods that aren't entirely healthy, and not getting enough excercise. Call it what it is. No need to make excuses. I'm simply.... fat. |
You know? There have been so many times when I had wished that I did eat crap food or ate fast food everyday so I could just eat decent food and have the weight drop off like I have seen it do for those who make those small changes.
I probably eat better than most 'thin' people here. I am not speaking for anyone but myself but then that is all anyone can honestly do. |
