How many of these were bought because of the domain itself and not other factors such as existing website or traffic...

Although the .com extension is the most common and prized, I see value in all extensions.
To me just about any domain can be branded. With all the pay per click search pages that show up on most of the prime .coms I think people are starting to look beyond .com to find what they are really looking for. Most web surfers use search engines to find what they are lookng for. They click a link in the search results. I do not think they actually look at the .com, .net, .org, .whatever. I could be wrong but this is my :2 cents: . I have over 800 domains with various extensions and with the exception of a few .com's they generate about the same amount of views and revenue. I can not see anyone typing in a "-" in the address bar of their browser but domains with a "-" work well with search engines. Also I do not think domains with numbers in them would get that many type-ins with a few exceptions that have been well branded. I am no expert in the domain market and am only offering my opinion. |
Eventually the world will run out of .coms

Also with the addition of new extensions the Trademark lawyers and the arbitration forums will make more money. Again this is only my :2 cents: |
its funny how many people here about how much the domain wallstreet sold for how many years ago and ask about "getting into something like that" its like your a few years too late dumbshit be nice if it was that easy

Every marketplace needs its end users. Where would the domain business be without website developers? :) |
