Got a message from paypal, they want me to fax them a copy of my passport, drivers license, utility bill etc...

Same happend to me to. They have to comply with finance reg's requiring them to confirm indentidies. They just freeze your account if you don't comply, once you send the docs they activate the account again.

I would check that too, there are tons of fake e-mails about paypal out there.
Contact paypal directly call them, send'm an e-mail, ask them!

They will put your account on hold still they receive your stuff.
Simple as that.
