Anyone shop at IKEA?

I was in Houston this week and wow. The place is huge. Really cool stuff too. They'll be opening a store here in Dallas on Aug 3rd.

Roald 05-24-2005 03:02 AM

I hate it but my girl seems to like the shop a lot ;)))

swedguy 05-24-2005 03:08 AM

I've bought quite a lot of stuff from there. Cheap and good enough quality for me :)

$5 submissions 05-24-2005 03:11 AM

I used to when I lived in the States. Great furniture at decent prices. Very modern and holds up decently.

BlueWire 05-24-2005 03:11 AM

I was there a couple weeks ago. I hope hell is more enjoyable than that endless maze of a store

SGS 05-24-2005 03:32 AM

We spend thousands there every year as we use Ikea for props in the studio. Its very cheap and surprisingly good. Never had any problems with any of it.

You must have a few of our parts then :winkwink:

JimmiDean 05-24-2005 04:31 AM

Good quality and the price is right to say the least.
However they tend to be a real zoo on Sat and Sun.
especially when they just open.

Get paniky in our IKEA in Brno - it is one way only and to get through takes about an hour at least. Canīt imagine what I would do if needed to get out quickly. Anyway I like their rooms samples arrangements.

their furniture is some of the best around - we have 2 around us and go there often to get stuff. What is fun is when my fiancee and I watch tv shows and pick out shit we just saw at Ikea

He IS not a nazi. He WAS.

If you know his families history, you would see that it's not very strange.

polle45, looks like you love to shop @ ikea !

swedguy 05-24-2005 08:13 AM

If you haven't read the book about the founder, Ingvar Kamprad, read it. It's an amazing story. One of the best biographies I've ever read.

Leading by Design: The Ikea Story

PlugRush Sascha 05-24-2005 08:14 AM

They're all over the place in Europe. IKEA is the place to go for cheap shit you won't care about when you break it.

ya that does sound like fun

sickkittens 05-24-2005 08:15 AM

I've only been there once. My gf loves it. We'll probably be going again soon.

Mutt 05-24-2005 08:20 AM

pretty much everybody I know decorated their first apartment/house primarily from IKEA including me because it looks good and is reasonably priced and not hard to put together. i still have a lot of stuff from IKEA, desks, shelves, accessories.

but for real furniture like a sofa i don't shop IKEA - quality is so so - in any big city you can find manufacturer outlets and find furniture of much high quality and comfort than IKEA for the same price.

If you surf google looking for friends and people who receive money from the owner of ikea you can realize by yourself that is IS a nazi
He was a personal friend of Swedish Nazi leader Per Engdahl and provided money for the nazi movement.

Just google it...

sherie 05-24-2005 08:27 AM

They are great for accessories! I go there mainly for candles...but usually end up leaving with a ton of this and that!

PlugRush Sascha 05-24-2005 08:28 AM

I like their storage containers and they're a lot cheaper than the container store.

Axeman 05-24-2005 10:39 AM
