Serious (current) 2257 question...
 

So lets say you produce DVDs and print magazines and you list your 2257 info on them, and that info is permanent since it is burned to a DVD or printed. Then you move...

What happens if you no longer use that address as your office or place of records?

Is that considered non-compliance if they go to that address and your not there?

I was wondering the same thing. Its so idotic. I dont know where I am going to be in ten years but there are DVDs floating around right now with our current address.

It will obviously happen. I doubt they could ever get a conviction for something as normal as moving your business.

The big adult movie studios must have already dealt with this issue in regards to the old 2257 rules. Talk to one of the lawyer who represents studios and see what they say.

Of course moving is allowed. You just need to make sure you follow the proper steps when you do. Foward mail for the period required by the post office, update your business records and corp/dba info and that sort of thing. Then start using the new offices address on what you produce. Our company has moved a few times and this is what our lawyers said to do.

Same goes for shutting down a business.... be sure to do it by the books and file all the appropriate paperwork. If you don't, they may legally assume you are still in business.

Section 75.6

(c) The information contained in the statement must be accurate as of the date on which the book, magazine, periodical, film, videotape, or other matter is sold, distributed, redistributed, or rereleased.

It's pretty clear that the info must be accurate the day the content is "sold, distributed, redistributed, or rereleased."

There is nothing to stop you from moving a week later.

You know what, you should fucking go for it. 99% of the people on this board are too cheap and/or too stupid to hire a lawyer, so they'd much rather spend $20 and get a quick and easy unofficial answer from you. Hilarious.

Unfortunately though, with the new definition of "redistribution" my reading is that if you move, you have to remaster all your dvds (to get the new 2257 trailer in the movie).

I recently moved to a new office. On top of that, I am moving soon to Florida and may eventually relocate the office down there.
