Do SE spiders ignore anything in < > tags?

If I put <> tags around some text I don't want google or yahoo to see yet will they ignore it?

I use <strong></strong> around some words in my blog text, doesn't ignore it. Just a thought. Bump.

If I type <don't read this> in an html page it doesn't get displayed. I don't want google to see duplicate content until I go in and change up the wording so I'm wondering if they'll just pass it by.

I'm ready to get a huge ass site indexed so that SE traffic can start flowing but there is some duplicate text on 150 of the pages. If I tag it out I can change em as I get to em without the SE's docking me if they do in fact ignore it.

yes they read in < >

They do that to see if there are any errors in html coding, if they find many errors (or any) the page will not be shown (indexed)

Just do it with the commenting format then:

<!-- Blabla.. -->

or:

<!--
Blabla-line#1
Blabla-line#2
-->

Won't penalize and won't be any different from what You've already thought of doing. :)
