the Chevys are nice.... but seems like they're overpriced....
what about the Toyotas? |

You already own the Durango...Stick with Dodge since it has done ya right. Ram 1500 Quad Cab? http://www.dodge.com/ram_1500/index.html Maybe a 2500 depending on what you are hauling. |

Toyota Tundra if you want mid sized, Ford 250 diesel if you want larger. Look at Edmunds before you start shopping.
|
when you want a truck thats gonna work and pull your house out of the ground, you buy a Ford, theres a reason why 8 out of 10 trucks on a construction site are Fords, not to mention the F-series is the best selling for the last 30 consecutive years. Ford sold 935,000+ F series trucks last year :thumbsup

think they'll give me a discount if I walk in with cash? |
Quote:
If they don't, go to a different dealer |
Quote:
there are no other dealers. |

Go for it. :thumbsup New $2 million+ dollar house, new job, new truck bought in cash...... WTF are you doing besides web design anyway? :winkwink: |
Ford...I believe they are still using 5.0 engine. Forget about looks. :)

Yeah, I started thinking about that. Do you have one dealership that carries all the major makes? |

but there's only one of each. If I don't like the Dodge dealer, I gotta go off island and pay for shipping. Which isn't too big of a deal.... I can ship a car here from Cali for $1k.... if I buy from another island, they'd probly pay for the shipping. |

More importantly...Knowing that there are no car manufacturing facilities on Maui.....We know that all of the vehicles sold there have thousands of miles on them already after driving through the tunnel from the mainland. AMP, you're better off just flying over here, having the pick of the litter from multiple dealers, then driving it back to Maui yourself. :2 cents: |
Most dealers make money off financing. Offering to pay cash hardly ever gets you a discount (though they might tell you you're getting one.....). I do all my negotiating before I ever set foot in the showroom - just email the dealers and tell then you want the best drive out price and whomever is the lowest, wins.
F150's look good, but be sure and get the bigger engine. Personally, if I was getting a Ford after having 2 of them which are total POS (Exploder and Ranger), I'd get a diesel which isn't in anything smaller than the 250. |
If you want something to last I'd say go with the Ford. The Chevy's and GMC's these days are sadly lacking in the quality control, and tend to have a lot of minor problems that are just annoying as hell. The Dodge's tend to be pricey right off the bat, and they lose a lot more in devaluation then any other truck on the market.
I've had new Chevy's, I've had new Toyota's, and I've had new Ford's. The Ford was the only truck that had zero maintenance other than tires and oil changes. :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup |

BTW, with the diesel 250 and 350 were/are using the same engine but modified it. |

I've owned Ford. Bought it brand new. Nothing but little maintenance problem the entire time I owned it. Problems with everything from the brakes to the roof rack and even the stock stereo. I doubt I will ever buy another Ford. :2 cents: |

Toyota's line of pickup trucks own in terms of dependability & resale
|
I've had noting but a great experience with the Dodge Durango I bought a few years ago..... have not had a single problem, plus the services are free, and I got a 7 year warranty on everything with it...
which means, I'm definately a Dodge fan... but that said, that doesn't mean I automatically will buy another. (Hence, this thread).... just looking for a good tough truck that will last for at least 4 or 5 years before it needs trading. Right now, I'd say it's between Dodge, Ford, or Toyota. The Toyotas I know are tough, but they seem small compared to the others.... maybe I'm wrong on that.. which leaves Dodge or Ford. (Chevys are just too expensive and they aren't worth what they're asking) |

Dodge Dakota SLT 3.8L v-6 or you can get the v-8 model. 2002 model is good
If I had the $ would buy a Titan 5.6L |

You're putting too much thought into this. Down a few gin & tonics then go buy the Dodge in the morning. Toyota's are for pussies, not crazies and the Ford........I already gave my opinion about those. |
no comment lol
