Webmaster referral percentages...what's fair?

A general question:

I'm getting ready to launch a reseller program, and I want to set our rate to webmasters referring other webmasters as competitive as possible...anyone wanna offer up their thoughts?

We can't, at this time, offer anything more than a rev share...

Thanks everyone!

BT 05-20-2005 11:20 AM

3% of the sales

Corleone 05-20-2005 11:21 AM

as a affiliate I'd want 7,5- 10%

but 5% is would be fair too

billywatson 05-20-2005 11:22 AM

what if I bump it to 5...or even 7.5? I mean...what's the breaking point? When do I lose??

Manowar 05-20-2005 11:25 AM

5% - 10%

depends who you refer :) but I noticed that % is very very cool on the long run

Want to be competative 10%

I have a few webmaster referrals making me a nice chunk of change but I recently checked my stats and overall I would have done better with $200 per active (5 sales)

chadglni 05-20-2005 11:39 AM

10% with 0 requirement to send sales yourself.

I dunno about that...I've shot 300+ scenes, I used to submit and resell...but I've never had my own program...so there are some people I can go to, and you guys have been all really helpful. We're thinking the 5 - 10% number is gonna happen...just where exactly I dunno yet...

Thanks a ton you guys!

You know what's bad about that is if you're getting 10% and your referrals did a collective $2000 a month you would get $200 every month.
Just goes to show how little traffic most people can push.

Either that or they send some traffic and decide that program converts for shit?

Anything less than 5 is a waste of time.

If you're in two minds about what kind of %, then why not start at the lower figure and if that doesn't invite much interest you could always bump it up and make it a promotion of some kind.

This would then give you the flexibility to change your %'s in the future, AND get more coverage for your program because you'd be posting on the boards about the webmaster referral % increase.

Just my :2 cents:

Good luck with your launch! :thumbsup

sure but if it converts for shit, I doubt they'll send 4, 8, or 10 sales or whatever is required to get the $200 flat referral fee either.

I did a check at a couple of sponsors:
Sunnydollars I've made $125 or so from my referrals if they had the $250 per active I would have made $750
PimpRoll I've made $80 or so at $200 per active I would have made $1000.
Topbucks I've made $2,500 if it were per active I would have made $200 :)

But I'll take anything I can get its "free" money :)

Michael O 05-20-2005 02:34 PM

I get $3.5 at Topbucks per referred sale others pay $1.05 and some partnership programs I get $.07 per trial :D

I run see-sig.com and its interesting to see which programs webmasters sign up for some programs have I have 30+ referred others 0.
