Is there an explanation why some sites/pages can get 1st page top listings for certain keywords/phrases in Yahoo! and those sites/pages can;t be found anywhere in Google for the same keywords/phrases?

That's not necessarily true, I've had sites less than a week old rank high for certain keywords in Google. There is a number of factors which apply to a domain on whether or not the sandbox effect applies too it! Yahoo picks it up on week 5. A new hope?
MSN is doing 1st or 2nd result on month 2.
Yahoo is doing top 5 for month 2.
Google puts you on page 2 for month 3
MSN puts you on result 3 - 7 for month 3
Yahoo has you at 4 to 8 for month 3
Google puts you on page 1 for month 4
Yahoo has you also on page 1 for month 4
MSN has you on page 2 for month 4...
Now if you made something else every other day for this time period, guess what, you can still gold plate your 100's for toilet paper because you also have something on googles 1st page, yahoo's 1st page and MSN's first page...
