I Hate Some Customers

Just got a nice one from a norwegian dude:

Hi Idiot,

I don't understand how I must download the movies before watching them. I click on the link and the media player comes on automatically and it's not a good result at all. What piece of crap site is this idiot? I'm about to call my bank so get this shitsite to work asap stupid!

Regards,
XXX

//the one thing I can't understand is why can't members be polite even though we are in the xxx game?

(for the record, in the text above he refers to advices given on the site as I have boxed with good advice etc that people tend to question.)

I'd just reply courteously and demonstrate professionalism.

With some mixed up people (often religious zealots) it runs like this:

Excitement - Kleenex moment - Self-loathing

Difficult pattern for them to break and the longer it goes on the worse it gets. :2 cents:

Almost like one of mine...

This dude downloads several gigs of content over the past few months and then writes a few days ago to complain about the format of my movies and the infrequency of my updates (with all the obligatory profanity and name-calling in his vocabulary included).

Then, he demands three months worth of refunds.

When I politely write back and point out that he was actively downloading gigabytes of data during the entire period of his membership, that I have updated my site on average every 2-3 days for over two years (I even post all of the update archives), and that I provide samples of the movie format I use prior to members joining, he comes back at me with more expletives and then tells me he will get me blacklisted (of course, he didn't mention where I would be blacklisted).

Needless to say, I wrote him back an e-mail (polite again) telling him that he had no grounds whatsoever for a refund, and I copied our e-mail traffic to my payment processor.

I know their policy is to refund practically anybody who complains, but I did have them put a note on his account that if this should happen, that he will be added to their scrub list and thereby have a hard time joining sites in the future.

Folks like that really try my patience.

Ahhh...that little rant made me feel better. :)

It's like that no matter where you go. There are alwas a few that make things worse off than it should be.

BigRod 05-19-2005 09:03 AM

Yeah, trying to keep professionlism when someone is being an idiot is difficult.

I like the customers who state that they haven't been able to access the members section for months, but finally had the time to tell you now and ask for a refund of 3 months. HA. Right.

it's ok, some of us got it ;-)

Many customers are dumber then a wet bag of hair. We get it all the time with our customer service for our toystore.

chadglni 05-19-2005 11:13 AM

I can't do my own customer service, mostly because I take shit too personally. I remember at one point having a woman call me, she was hysterical and in tears because her login didn't work and she had $3.99 riding on it.

I couldn't sleep that night, even though I fixed her situation and she seemed fine when I let her go.
