I am having SERIOUS sleeping issues lately......
but really do not want to take the Ambien's I have....
Those things are deadly man ..... Fuck they work good and all but its highly addicting shit. :( |

Ambien works but if you take them daily, they fuck up your days. My dr. said they are not addicted, like a crack whore doesn't need crack. Not sure when he meant but they are so addictive. Good luck, I try counting sheep but I end up counting of them. |

Yea, I here ya. My mind just goes too fast sometimes. Thinking about work/ideas ect.. I'll sometimes stay up until 4 braindstorming then wake up at 8 to get them into play.

If you're serious here is what I do.
I have a scene or an image of somethig peaceful that I look at in my mind while I'm going to sleep. It doesn't have to be boring or stupid - just something that you find (or found) very relaxing. Concentrate on that scene, examine that scene all the time you're trying to go off to sleep. Do it every night and after a while it will become your trigger to sleep. I'm not joking when I tell you that I can use my trigger to put myself to sleep just about anytime of the day or night that I need a break. My kids will tell you that they've seen me catnapping while standing in line at a supermarket check out. |

You need to find out whats on your mind. Lack of sleep on a regular basis may meen something is worrying your sub concious. Often Guilt or apprehension. I think I read that you said you was getting married? Thats a big step, maybe thats causing it?

I just do a meditation if I can't sleep - erase your mind of all thoughts and just concentrate on your breathing, slow, deep breaths in and out through your nose.
Concentrate only on your breathing and start counting each breath and try to get to 100, if you find yourself thinking about something else then start over again at 1. I usually get to about 15 before I'm asleep. |

i havent slept good in over 2 weeks now. this week, i was up for 2 days straight, everytime i try to fall asleep, my body 'jerks' & wakes me back up. i have an Ambien CD that i play (got it from their website), and i do the 15 minute muscle relaxation & mind relaxation....still doesnt help. i would see a doctor about Ambien (just for a couple of free trials, dont need a whole bottle), but i dont have med insurance, and im not about to pay $200 for a bottle of the stuff. |
I've got these natural sleep aid tabs called "Valerian"...... but I'm afraid to take them. Holy shit do they work though. I tried one a few years ago, took it in the evening and slept for like 14 hours. They knock the shit out of me.

Hey..
I have had major problems with sleep, anyways I had to see a specialist about it and this is what I had to do: 1. don't do anything in your bedroom except sleep or sex.. like no TV, working etc 2. get exercise at least 5 hours before bed... 3. don't eat heavy late, no caffeine after 5 pm 4. eat a lite carb snack before bed, like a small peice of toast. 5. the most important: go to bed the same time every night. get up the same time every day. if you cannot sleep after roughly 15 min get up and do something BORING like read a book thats not exciting. or watch an informerrcial, but not in your bed. or do crosswords thats what i did. When you feel a bit tired, try again.. trust me after doing this for a week my body was forced to adapt and wanted to sleep at the set time. I chose 2 am for going to bed and 10 am for waking up.. now it varies a bit but its a LOT easier... Just make sure that no matter when you went to bed, you get up and stay up the same time every day... you will beat the insomnia..! your body will just be like ok FUCK i get it. I took a sleep pill for a while before I did that, only 3 weeks..and when I stopped I could not sleep for FOUR DAYS which scared the crap out of me. It was horrible.. like, really really bad. Stay away from that stuff for real.. :( !! this may seem totally stupid and awful but seriously, watching a horror movie or drinking before bed will make things much worse, so will staying up till 4 am and then sleeping till 2 pm. because that is just a messed up way to live! |

oh yeah i forgot, don't try to go for a run to make yourself tired. it stimulates your body and makes it harder to sleep. alcohol may help knock you out but it interfers with your 3rd sleep cycle in your REM. both are not helpfull.. if you exercise at least 5 hours before it will really really help...
same with eating a lot to get tired, you will wake up soon after feeling fucked up. |

yeah they are really nasty... they stop you from making the chemicals you need to sleep, so when you stop your body has none and has to re-make them all which can take days or if you have been taking them for a long time, your body may NEVER be able to do it again.. really scary!!

It's all in your mind this works for me everytime picture yourself on a beach it's 80 outside dark and the wind blowing and all you hear is water puts me right to sleep.
