>>> Firefox help needed

I was running firefox and checking for updates. So it started downloading the latest update and I started installing it but cancelled before it ended.

So now I can't startup ff anymore and keep getting this message:
"the program must close to allow a previous installation attempt to complete. Please restart"

But I still get this message after restarting windows and still can't use ff

So do I have to reinstall it and if yes do I lose my bookmarks? Or can I re install it without a problem and keep all bookmarks.

Is there a directory/file I should copy where my bookmarks are in so I can replace the new file and overwrite it?

Problems problems problems, any help is welcome.

You should just be able to reinstall over it and if the origanl install isn't totally fucked your bookmarks should still be there..

Once you've got it working again setup:
Bookmark Backup 0.3.3 - Creates a backup of bookmarks.html each time the browser is closed.

i would recommend that you backup your bookmarks and proceed with a reinstallation.

as in xp timestamp restore?

@loverboy, tell me how to backup my bookmarks right now.

Your Mozilla Firefox bookmarks are saved in the file bookmarks.html.
This file is located in:

C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\o075bro.default (or similar)

Just make a copy of your bookmarks, delete Firefox and reinstall. :)

you can do a manual backup for now as SSP suggested and don't forget to
install Bookmark Backup Version 0.3.3 just in case this happens again to you

just run the install program, it shouldn't mess with your bookmarks or other settings. I have done 5 or 6 of these now and never had a problem.
