you know i was watching this conservative republican guy bitch about the newsweek story and how wrong it was and how horrible that they would print something like that to inflame people. he the proceeded to say they shouldn't even be allowed to have the koran, they should all be given a bible and made to become christians

When CBS made up the national guard story, it was fucked up but nobody got killed; so we all forgot about it.
But this is really fucked up, people got killed. Journalists know that Muslims don't fuck around with the Kuran. That fucker that wrote the story should be sent to Afghanistan to be tried there.

The truly odd thing about the whole story is that it was in newsweek ELEVEN DAYS before someone managed to get it into the news. 11 days is 11 eternities in the news world.
Yesterday the state dept. was calling for a retraction because the apology wasn't good enough. Today they said the retraction is a 'good start, but more needs to be done'. All the while, they are still investigating the alleged incident. ie: it could be true, they just dont know yet.
