give me opinions on cobaltweb
 

been looking at some hosts, and the prices cobaltweb is offering is the cheapest ive seen so far.
anone who has had them, whats your opinion of them? i would be looking to do 200-400 GB transfer a month(2 websites) to start out, so reliability is very important. if you dont wanna post comments here, you can get a hold of me at warsagaATattbi.com

I have a small site hosted with Cobalt.

It's fast, had zero downtimes and Carl responds emails lightning fast. What more can you ask for? I'd rate them A+.

i wouldn't reccomend using a raq server.
I had a raq4r and it would fuck up all the time. (the server itself) not the connection. I was going to upgrade to the newer xtr and right before i did they recalled all of them. They are full of security problems as well. You can see that from all the patches on the cobalt website.

I'm using a straight linux box running apatche with 2 p3's, raid 5 with scuzzi drives. It is harder to admin than the raq servers but I have no downtime.

BV, i know nothing about hosting, so what you just said sounded sort of foreign to me....
im not sure what "raq" is....is that like NT or linux, or something different?
but you dont think i should go with cobalt then?

Just a note to BV : despite to what our name suggests, we use PIII boxes with loads of RAM, which can handle much, much more than the RAQ's.

Go with whatever host you feel comfortable with. I just don't reccomend the Raq servers. They are the little thin blue ones.
Apparently the CobaltWeb hosting company is not using them or have others available, so you will be fine with them.
