Nintendo Reveals Early Details About Revolution

May 13, 2005

Big things to come in small package

Nintendo, the world leader in video game innovation, stated loud and clear that they are not to be overlooked in the next generation home console race with the revelation of several unique features of the company's next console system, code name Revolution, to key media outlets. According to the early information, Revolution will combine powerful technology and gaming-focused features in Nintendo's smallest home game console yet.

In its final form, Revolution will be about the thickness of three standard DVD cases and only slightly longer. The versatile Revolution will play either horizontally or vertically, allowing the user total flexibility in setting up a gaming session wherever they have a television.

Thanks to Nintendo's hardware development partners IBM and ATI, the small system will be packed with power that will enable it to wow players with its graphics. Nintendo's legions of loyal fans will be happy to learn that Revolution will be backward compatible, playing both Nintendo GameCube 8cm disks along with its own 12cm optical disks in the same self-loading media drive.

In the next generation, the addition of the Internet will be important to all consoles and particularly important to Nintendo. Revolution will be wireless Internet ready out of the box.

There's much more to Revolution that will be revealed over the coming months, but the combination of its compact size, wireless Internet, backward compatibility, quick start-up time and quiet, low-power operation add up to the start of a great game system. Get ready for the Nintendo Revolution in 2006!

how they gonna pack everything in there ?

ed146 05-15-2005 04:01 PM

I doubt Nintendo will be able to compete against new playstation and xbox 360. They are going in the same direction as Sega did.

In asia they are just as dominant as the playstation and the ds is outselling the psp.. so nintendo have heaps of years in them still... it's just the u.s market they suck at cause it seems everyone wants blood and fps...

Nintendo will be fine once it stops making kid games and gets into the blood and violence genre.

nico-t 05-15-2005 05:20 PM

blood and violence is nothing more than a visual aspect of a game... your argument is something like buy a book for it's awesome looking cover rather than the story itself...

if you want something with depth and gameplay get a nintendo... they make games for all ages not just for kids... for example zelda is a cell shaded looking game which appeals to the younger audience but the gameplay is absolutely awesome for any age...

same goes for the new game nintendogs which i want so badly just because it's about cute puppies doesn't mean it's for girls/kids the actual playability and control you have in the game is insane... not to mention it's getting rated 10/10 everywhere...

flashfire 05-15-2005 05:42 PM

nintendo doesnt stand a chance

Screaming 05-15-2005 05:44 PM

sounds like a plan to me

xclusive 05-15-2005 06:07 PM

the problem with nintendo is realism.
I only like realistic games, things that could happen in todays world. Thats why i like sony the best, and apparently the majority of ppl have this taste too otherwise nintendo would be on top.
Zelda might have good gameplay but its unrealistic with a childish look.
GTA was a huge hit: its realistic.

i disagree... maybe something like rainbow six is more realistic... but i don't see how getting shot numerous amounts of times and smashing a car into poles and it's still running is realistic... it's a good game though...

tony286 05-15-2005 06:21 PM

should be very cool

Realistic as in, they look real. They play off of the typical guys fantasy of being a hero, be it through sports or action based games.

Zelda and Mario are great games, they just have a different target market. I have no idea why people argue about this. Its like saying which is better: teen porn or ebony porn? They each have their target markets in which they both succeed.
