LA sucks
I just got back from Los Angeles about 1am yesterday morning, took 10 hours to get home from LAX!!
Pissed me off - it should have only taken 6 or 7 hours. I went up there to pick up my new horse from the airport (Jet Pets), did not get out of there untill just after 2pm, thought I would beat the friday rush hour traffic, man who was I kidding. took 4 hours to outside the LA area. I dont know how those of you who live there keep from shooting each other on the freeway ... oh wait...you all do shoot each other on the freeway.. I forgot...but now I know why. But I got my new boy home safe and sound... He is so awsome!! http://www.avalanchfriesians.com/g5.jpg http://www.avalanchfriesians.com/g3.jpg |

Very nice horse Venus and yes LA sucks and Vegas (where I live) is closing in rapidly. Traffic is getting ridiculous.
|
What does it cost to ship a horse from Holland to Los Angeles?
|
I moved to phoenix last july from vegas, I thought vegas used to be bad, then I got caught up in rush hour traffic here in phoenix...But LA, man you could almost have a picnic on your car hood waiting for the traffic to start moving, that crap they got there is enough to make you go crazy.

nice horse :thumbsup

So fly your horse into Vegas or Phoenix instead. The only reason our traffic is bad is because we have these idiots flying horses into LAX just so they can transport them somewhere else.
|
but he is a nice looking horse
|
I had it all done through a horse importer, my costs were $7200
that price includes his plane ticket and all quarentine costs. Quote:

That is a staggeringly beautiful animal, venus -- my compliments.
And the beauty of his mistress (assuming that is you in the photograph) is also worth noting. Thanks for sharing those. j- |
Jet Pets is only located in LA, no offices in phoenix or vegas - guess you all are just going to have to accomendate us :)

thanks, yes thats me, at 1 am, after a 10 hour drive and waiting for 2 hours for my horse to get released from quarentine.

So, I am guessing you weren't driving a compact car. Remember, if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Besides, he looks sturdy, why not ride him home? I would never trailer a motorcycle, why would you trailer a horse? |
Plenty of people have gone insane n LA's Freeways.

Very nice horsey
|
i can't believe there haven't been any snarky innuendos yet...
|
LA traffic is enough to give you an ulcer. When I first moved there in 78 I was living in Laguna Niguel and commuting to the garment district in downtown LA. Talk about nightmare drives.
|
I am not a horse breeder, can you tell me what is so special about this guy that you had to ship him all the way from Holland?
|
That is really cool... Must be noice
|
A beautiful horse!
|

why didn't you fly it into vegas? too hot? |
So, venus, since GFY went down shortly after this thread started I decided to check out your site and program. I even signed up as an affiliate.
Any plans for any Lady Godiva action? I would like to talk to you about some possible promotion ideas. ICQ 16075497 if interested. |
is that for riding or eating?

good horse!

Its not him thats special, its the breed (well with the exception of how beautoful he is)
Friesian horses originate in Friesland, Netherlands and Frisian horsemen served in the Roman Legions. The Friesian Horse is sometimes called the war horse. They are strong beautiful horses with the best movement of any horse. Did you see the movie alexander? Alexander rode a friesian in the movie, they are used in allot of movies. So why did I have him imported, because its cheaper to buy him over there and send him here then it is to buy one here. If you buy a 3 yr old here he will probably have been brought over from Holland anyways and the person selling him is going to make his profit thus making him cost more - so you buy direct from a breeder over there and have an importer here take care of all the arrangements. There are not allot of friesians here in the US, I think there are around 20 FPS approved friesian stallions here. I was not able to find one here of the age and qauality I was looking for and for the price I was looking for. I refuse to pay 30k for a horse here that I can get for half the price over there. You have to see these horses in person to really understand how awsome they are. Quote:

My horse?
I am going to train him to ride and drive. driving is just basically having him pull a cart right now he has no training. Quote:
