Another development wrought by BLOG SPAMMING
 

I already posted earlier regarding some webmasters' abuse of the comments features of blogs leading Google to start discounting these for SE ranking purposes. Well, it appears that spammers who abuse blog entry creation have provokes some countermeasures from Blogger and other free blog systems....

Personally, I don't have a problem with a graphic verification code. It makes a lot more sense than that bullshit Google implemented with the nofollow tag.

I am not sure I follow. The only people I am having any problems with adding comments is online poker, and a couple pharmaceuticals.

I appreciate when my readers make comments to my blogs.

Actually, this is not regarding comment spam. I made an earlier entry at justtraffic that addresses that. This type of spam is ENTRY spam. Loading keywords and garbage text onto free blog systems in an attempt to influence SERP. Another very common variation is loading the same text block but changing a few words around. Finally, another version involves abusing RSS (I'll write about that one later we review hundreds of software-generate pages)

Gene, I'm not sure I follow you here. A few weeks ago Blogger implemented image verification when creating a blogger account or creating a new blog on that account. However you don't need to type an image to make a post.

Therefore they have stopped most automatic blogger account and blog creation scripts but have done nothing to stop auto posting.

It is pretty damn easy to make 10 fake blogs with seamingly real content, crosslink with other blogs and then create a second set with links from the originals... The second set you can spam the fuck out of with links to your sites... You can never stop this...
