I think AFF should....

Ban all the fake profiles in the member's area. I think it's unfair to members who pay (and yes, I do have an account). The site is great, and is probably the best around, I give you props on that... but you guys need to think about weaving out the fake profiles that promote sexkey, adultbouncer, and other shit. :2 cents:

cyber_ninja 05-14-2005 12:27 PM

i agree :thumbsup

tranza 05-14-2005 12:29 PM

I couldn't agree more...

Draychi 05-14-2005 12:31 PM

is IwantU.com the same way? I don't have an account there...

Tango 05-14-2005 12:31 PM

great idea yes
but how do you enforce?
some are obvious
some are not
almost all fake ones - are not paying members so probably not much revenue would be lost

I do have an account their, but i dont search for USA girls so no clue.

SleazyDream 05-14-2005 12:37 PM

they already do - if you know one if fake tell them

Draychi 05-14-2005 12:39 PM

Most of them are obvious when the pictures look like they've been shot by a content company.
There would have to be a way to enforce a simple rule without loss in memberships... we should brainstorm :pimp

Damian_Maxcash 05-14-2005 12:41 PM

They have millions of members... It would be a full time job for an office full of people to get them all.

If your paying to be a member, it isn't your job to report fake profiles :disgust

If it was enforced from the beginning, an office full of people wouldn't be needed to fix a mistake.

I have seen a previous post where they said, they are addressing the problem :2 cents:

profiles with no activity are removed after a year.
they also screen all profiles.

aff isn't that bad actually - most are in fact real

BIGTYMER 05-14-2005 12:48 PM

Might harm my great conversions. ;)

you promote them, i know you have an account there. If i get emailed back 5 times... I can be guaranteed 3 of those are promoting sexkey's and shit.

samsam 05-14-2005 12:56 PM

there should be a button next to each profile which can raise the alarm if a user suspects a fake profile. have a ? next to it and if they click the ? you can explain that some people post fake profiles up because AFF has so many users and that this button is to let AFF know that this profile could possibly be a fake or a spam.

that way the users do most of the work and AFF can take action or not. usually theyd probably give the benefit of the doubt but most fake profiles are totally obvious because they promo a url or something else

good idea, BUT most profiles you can't tell are fake until they email you, and they have their little teasing text, and then their links. Maybe a small page dedicated to reporting usernames as fakes would work. That way, when they email you with their bullshit, you can just copy and paste their username and hit submit.
But then, that goes back to my post a minute ago.... paying member's are paying for the membership.. not getting paid back to report fakes.

well the button i talked about could be included with responses emails as well so if you get hit with a spam you can just click it for instant reporting.

no point forcing users to email aff with username and shit because you know that 99% of users wont bother if it involves any hassle

the problem is... stadard members can't contact paid members through the email system. So if I send them a message and say, email me here, then they email from their own email address, not involving AFF.

doesnt matter its a start and AFF can experiment with different methods of doing it and see what is most effective, requires least manpower and is best for conversions.

ultimately less fake profiles = better retention = better reputation = better rebills = more members = better conversions & more $$$$

well... we'll leave it there and see where this goes, if anywhere.

It's more than a full-time job. It's a full-time team that works around the clock to remove fake profiles. If you find one send an e-mail to them [email protected] or to me, if you prefer, and it will be handled.

We already have a link "Report Abuse" in the footer of every page. It works exactly as you just discribed it. Please either click this link or send an e-mail to [email protected] and we will remove offending profiles.

Elli 05-14-2005 02:03 PM

Sagi is on top of things, as usual. :)

CherryLipsRosa 05-16-2005 06:08 PM

Yes on IwantU we have agents checking all profiles before posting them on the site. It is costly but it provides better interaction on the site.

reynold 05-16-2005 07:33 PM

Trakking them is another issue to consider...
