Bought my GF her "ROCK" and it gets delivered today!

Princess Cut Stone
E - Colour
VVS1 - Clarity
Very Good cut
Excellent Polish
71 points

Not the biggest rock out there but the quality of the stone is excellent and it should shine as much as the brilliant cut stones.

Next comes mounting it on the band she wanted... then its all a game of suspense...she knows i have it but doesnt know when it'll come her way!

Within the next week or two... i just gotta figure out how to throw her off the scent which is hard since we've been dating for 4 years! :)

I dont know if you can do this in your area but maybe take her to a movie and rent the ad space up on the screen before the movie starts with your purposal. :thumbsup

It's what I wanted to do but I whimped out and rented a limo and took her to the place we first met and asked her.

I must say that the two of you were smart enough not to marry until after you've been together at least two years. That's my minimum suggested timespan. Again, I bet the two of you will be marvelously happy. :)

If she loves you, a simple band would suffice. Congratulations and best of luck to both of you. :)

I was in the jewelry business for almost 3 years. You picked a nice quality stone. Please find a reputable local jeweler (no malls), to get an appraisal, and check the table/dimensions to make sure the stone is cut right. I would have went for an Ideal cut stone. Also, when you have the diamond set, do not do it in a mall.

If pope John Paul has visited a sinagogue, then you can surely marry a catholic girl :)

I bought it online and if these guys fuck me it's only a 24hr drive away to do some "collecting". The stone has been inspected by GIM and has a serial number lasered onto it but i will still have the stone verified regardless of what they say..

As for the cut, AFAIK the princess stones only go up to a VG and not ideal but i could/probably am wrong it just that i havent seen/heard of an ideal cut for that cut.

The band she wants is from a mall but i will NOT let the diamond out of sight!

Please feel free to give me more advice!

Best Regards,

Best Regards,

hehe didnt see the part about princess cut.. my baaaaaaaaad.

did you mean GIA instead of GIM? what's good about the stone you bought is that, there will always be a market for it incase times get rough.. its a quality stone. if you purchased something like J color, SI2, you wont find anyone lining up to buy it.

also see if the dealer you bought from will allow you to "upgrade" the stone. this way you could give the stone back at the price you paid, and receive that price as a deposit on a larger stone. many private jewelers do this that stand behind their merchandise.

he is right, only GIA certificates hold any creedence when it comes to grading stones. It sounds nice though :thumbsup

Pretend to be really depressed and distance yourself from her ... and then one day, steal her away from whatever she's doing.. or say there's an emergency and you really need to talk to her.. it might make her have a heart attack thinking you're going to end it with her.. so decide yourself if a scare/shock tactic is possible with her.. :)
