Few days ago my good friend, who's also the head of my meat department went out on our friends little ponga the other day thresher fishing right outside my house and came in with this lil guy. (380 lbs)

Needless to say, we've been getting a little sick of eating fish tacos lately...

Nice catch for 2 miles off shore here in Newport Beach....

How bout I ride my bike to NB and we go fishing

Iv'e probably caught about a dozen 200+ lb'ers within 3 miles off on newport beach... ( and ive swam with them as well )

Threshers rarely maul humans. Mostly Lemon, Tiger, Mako and White sharks doing all the damage. There hasnt been a shark attack at the beach in NB for a long time.

Hitch a ride with my partner JC, he lives in LV also and comes out here all the time. I would actually love to put together a webmaster fishing event. Hmmmm....

When we go out here we see sharks all the time.. Most the time they are hammerheads and will swim right next to you without much bother..

ya, we got quite a few of those off of our "balboa pier".

I read years ago, that the story Jaws was influenced by a true story that happened off of San Pedro..it was an article in Parade magazine if I recall.

I used to boogie board off of Venice Beach and I remember the first time a shark swam under neath me...just a sand shark...freaked my shit out even tho' I knew there had to be a bunch in the area anyway..I didn't go back into the water for a month...LOL
That movie Jaws totally fucked me up for life.

Edited to add part of the story...if I recall the article there were some guys who had caught a big shark and it dragged their boat around for days.

Where is the blood?

That's where my friend "Thos" reached over the side of the dingy with his knife and hacked through the back of it's neck to spill all of it's blood. They had no gun on board.
