Why do programs give out game consoles as prizes?

This alway made me wonder. Why do programs give out game consoles as gifts to people who bring in traffic and joins? I don't own a program so I don't know but it would make sense to give them a gift that would entice them to work MORE and not LESS to promote your sites.

Maybe give them a new system or a new pimp monitor...something that will keep their asses glued to the monitor and sending you traffic and joins! Why send a gaming console so they're pulled away from the money making machine lovingly known as "A Computer"???

I might be wrong but I'm a miserably opinionated fuck.

I totally disagree. They may be cheap in price ($200 or so) but they do nothing positive to help grow your sites that the gift winner promotes. The "value" of the game console is $0. The price may be cheap but the actual marketing/advertising value is in the negative. A bad gift idea as far as I'm concerned.

That same $200 can be used to purchase a really nice DVD Burner or maybe a new hard drive. For $300 you can get a really nice flat screen monitor setup. They would be more inclined to stay on their computers and get more work done.

If you buy someone an X-box or Playstation and they find a game that they like...its instant addiction. Might as well write them off and look for more affiliates to promote your sites. :2 cents:

so, you're saying someone can't send traffic without being at their computers 24/7?
