Canon EOS 350D eller Sony CyberShot DSC-F828

Help me i don't wich one to buy - i love sony for its speed and the always best Carl Zeiss lense - but are there hidden advantages on the Cannon ??

tornell 05-09-2005 07:23 AM

I vote for CyberShot DSC-F828

Libertine 05-09-2005 07:27 AM

:eek7

The not-so-hidden advantage on the Canon is that it's a slr. The question here is not "which is better", but "slr or not" :2 cents:

You know that, on an slr, you can change lenses?

:1orglaugh Year the hell i know that but have you seen the Properties of the Lense on the 828 ??? it does the same as 3 very expensive canon. Plus there is addons to the lense of the 828 that gives it other special features.

I just wonna know if its stupid to buy the Sony instead og the Canon because i will loose ALLOT ?!

leg4 05-09-2005 07:56 AM

I own the Sony and like it alot... It produces amazing pics and is very fast...

I like it becauses its easy to just pick it up and start shooting...

I didn't want all the bells and whistles of a slr w/interchangeable lenses.

We own the F-828, and we love it. It is very fast, and you don't need the Sony Memory Sticks for it. It is a two-handed camera, though.

BigRod 05-09-2005 08:55 AM

Do you have any SLR lenses?

The properties of a lense don't always fully indicate the quality. A zoom lense with a wide range, like the one on the Sony, has to compromise on a number of things compared to more specialized lenses. So, for instance, a cheap 50 mm Canon lens will most likely yield way better quality than the lens on this Sony will at 50 mm.

Aside from that, from the looks of the reviews, it seems the Sony has some significant problems and overall isn't as good a camera as the 350D:

For you, though, the Sony would probably be a better and more practical choice. It seems like you wouldn't use multiple lenses (and don't need to), so an slr probably isn't something you need.

I myself like the Sony 828.. I've used the sony 717 for a few years without any troubles and the 828 is a huge step up from that (I've shot with one a few times)

It's up to you I'd say.. Sure I'd love to own a top dollar SLR someday but for what I need (Amatuer solo girls) the Sony's are best

ajrocks 05-09-2005 10:41 AM

Canon all the way! Optics are so much better also more you can do witht he camera! Canon's CMOS is way better and much more sensitive!

woj 05-09-2005 11:15 AM

I would go with the Canon, once you take a few pics with a slr you won't ever want to go back.

I second that. :thumbsup

There's no way you can compare the Canon with the Sony, it's like Ferrari vs Toyota... Canon is the way to go... better optics, better CCD, less noise, far more manual functions...

OK - sounds like alot of canon fans woke up later - maybe you can then tell me what is the name of canons lens that lets me go REALLY close, like 1-2 Cm - i have been searching for a lense/objective like that but without any luck, can you help me with that ?

That would be a macro lens - plenty of those available for a Canon 350D, but they ain't cheap. Sounds like you'd be better off initially with the Sony Cybershot. If you find yourself getting hooked on photography, then you can upgrade.

Tuga 05-10-2005 03:00 AM

I love the EOS 300D , I'm sure you would be very happy with the 350.

KRL 05-10-2005 03:01 AM

Basically the SLR gives you more options and flexibility because of its interchangeable lenses.
