I agree with you here....hate the postings showing we are in the wrong when we get attacked.

Rochard 05-07-2005 09:09 PM

Japan got what they had coming to them. We defeated them all the way across the Pacific, and they continued to fight. They would have continued to fight even once we hit the beaches of mainland Japan.

You need to remember that during WWII there was no such thing as "smart bombs". It was a common pratice on all sides to firebomb entire cities.

LittleMack 05-07-2005 09:10 PM

Fight fire with fire!!

bp4l-xp 05-08-2005 12:16 AM

if you cut only oil resource of japan, they have no choice but attack to you, to get oil in middle of war!

And they were already beaten, you tested Atom bomb on them, just because they fucked you up before you can attack them! If russia did not attacked them, you would lose so much soldiers (all rookies, what can you expect?)

Redrob 05-08-2005 12:54 AM

The atomic bomb was a terrible tragedy visited upon a civilian population consisting on non-combatants, women and children. These people would not have fought our troops as their soldiers would have.

The bombing did force some members of the Emporer's cabinet to realize the hopelessness of continuing to fight eventhough many members of the military leadership wanted to fight to the end in the Bushido tradition.

Whether it was ultimately a good thing or a bad thing is for others to decide as cases can be made for both results.

However, the bombing was a racist act by our government which had a long tradition of not respecting the rights of asian citizens....immigration blocks, internment camps, poll taxes, intermarriage prohibitions, etc. Our government would have never used the bomb on the Germans if they had stayed in the war.

Sad, sad, very sad. I have been to Nagasaki and Hiroshima as I lived in Japan for several years. The people are among the kindest, friendliest, and most respectful I have met in my life. I found their attitudes amazing that they weren't hostile, angry and bitter over their experiences.

I have learned many lessons about life from these fine folks. They have my respect and the bombing was a sad and racist act.

The U.S., the only country in the history of the world to ever use nuclear weapons on another country.

Kind of funny, we grew up first being taught the Indians were evil, then the Japanese, then the Russians and Chinese. Yet our country has attacked and been at war more times than any other country. Kind of sad the brainwashing that goes on from the time we enter kindergarten.

US has had more wars than any other country? I'm not historian, not even a college graduate but I'm pretty sure there's tons more countries with more wars than us.

America been in more wars than any other country? Your not even close to being right. What about the 100's of years of war in Europe, the 100's of years of war in the middle east, the 100's of years of war in asia. Since time began the rest of the world have been contsantly fighting. The U.S are new to war in comparison.

What counteries? hmmm. OK how about England, France, Spain, Germany, Turkey, China, Japan. etc etc.

Half the wars you mention above are European wars. Started in Europe, infact going for 5 whole years before the U.S joined in. The US just joined in to help later. Including WW1, WW2, Bosnia, Kosovo, after we asked them for help. Did you know France and England were at war for 100 years solid? So you add all the wars the U.S were involved in would that add up to 100 years? That was just one of the wars we have had together

Two of the wars above, the first two, were the English fighting the native americans. America wasnt even a real country. The second is Colonials, fighting ex colonials. Then we have Intervention in Haiti, a war? First Persian Gulf War, that was a U.N war.

The US havnt even come close to the European and middle eastern wars. They have started far less than Europeans, Asians and Middle Eastern countries and have been involved in far less.

Yea I guess Japan was in the right to kill innocent civilians in China, after the Doolittle's Raiders bombed Tokyo. Japan attacked China killing around 250 thousand civilians in operation Sei-Go. Guess they were rookies too that couldn't figure it out..

Not since America was founded. They have about a ten fold lead since 1776. They've launched what, 200-300 military actions in the past 200 years? No country in history has launched that many attacks in so short a time span. The American system wouldn't work if they didn't find a weak nation to fight every five years or so.

Nice list bro but that's not even close to all of them. I have a great book that details every military action by the US but I'm way too lazy to type them out.

We didn't need to waste our men in Japan.

More Japanese citizens, American Troops, Japanese Troops, and even Russian troops would have died if the bombs weren't dropped.

200,000 people died in the bomb blasts. Millions would have died if America were to invade the Japanese homeland.

how does that work, they start a war every 5 years but they have had 200-300 in 229 years

Yea but as I posted above, the anti American bashers and bitchers always whine about the US nuking Japan and killing 200k.. But you never hear them saying a word about Japan attacking China and killing over 200k civilians after the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo.

Gunni 05-09-2005 07:57 AM

I think it was a good thing that the bomb was dropped in these early stages of it's development. It could well be that if those bombs wouldn't have been dropped that the USSR and the USA would have gone into a nuclear war with each other. The fact that the bomb had been dropped and people knew it's insane destruction power might have been a deciding factor in keeping the world out of a nuclear holocaust during the cold war.

And most people that know the subject agree that the amount of casualties would have been 5 or up to 10 times higher if USA would have invaded Japan. So even though these people might have horrible stories to tell, allot more people could have them if it weren't for the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
