    Do i need a new harddrive?

    I just noticed a whistling noise from it. Its not that loud but i can hear it through the case it goes up and down. I opened the case and its definitley coming from the harddrive.

    I had it for abot 2 years a maxtor. Is this normal or is the motor going bad or something?

      Sounds like it could be on it's way out..I wouldn't take a chance and back it up before she dies..they aren't supposed to whistle
