What Should Webair Do With The NationalNet.com Domain They Own?
Your thoughts on this?

I dont know the people at webair so I am not going to make judgements, but I met Tony and he is an awesome guy! I think webair should sell the name to Tony for the amount they paid for it in good faith!

I bet that Mike could make a decent profit selling the domain to National Net :2 cents:
probably more than he would ever make by trying to steal traffic away and pushing to his own hosting company |
I am brokering peace next week when Mike gets back from Montreal.
|
give it to natnet :2 cents:
|
Webair is stupid, they cant do anything with the domain. They cant use it to make a profit. That includes selling it to natnet

Webair purchasing that domain was very very stupid. It reflects poorly on the management. Two reasons pop into mind: 1. An intelligent person would know you can't fuck with a direct competitor like this anymore (cybersquatting). 2. A company that would try to trick people looking specifically for nat net is not maintaining a level of professionalism I'd look for when entrusting my data to a host. |
From Taboo's post (#56) in that thread ( http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=462842 ):
Because domains are such a large part of my business, I have lost all respect for webair because of this one stupid act. It was a crude, tactless, foolish move that will only ending up hurting their rep, not to mention losing the domain name and the $5K. Only way to remedy this is to transfer it to natnet before it goes to arbitration... unless webair wants this on their permanent record... It's one thing to compete on service, or pricing, but this was a stupid move and they win my "DOMAIN DUMBASS" award. Well said. |

We are assuming that it's all true here. I just wanted to point that out more so on my behalf. :) Im not trying to start any arguments. I just wanted to know a certain someone's opinion. |
In general, ICANN UDRPs are a low cost solution for fighting blatant cybersquatting. But, the UDRP is the amateur league.
Large well-heeled companies victimized by cybersquatting have MUCH more leverage in federal court. If plaintiffs have the dough, and want to play hardball, they skip the UDRP and go straight to court. I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY AND THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE. |
