$900 for banner on the hun and $500 for ppc SE...
 

Hi,

I'm seriously considering purchasing a banner space on the hun for $900 a month and spending $500 on ppc search engines.

Good idea or bad?

If good, what are some things I can do to really take advantage of the boost in traffic?

Any opinions or ideas would be very welcomed.

I've never paid for an ad placement. I can only offer my opinion.

It seems logical to think that the Hun would decide that $900.00 was a fair price. He must know how much bling bling that spot can generate. He must know that you will easily make your money on that spot, and therefore charges to cover bandwidth on that spot, as well as make up for the money that he will not make.

If he charges too much he will not have return buyers for that spot, and will not be able to sell that spot.

On the other hand, Why would he want to sell a spot for $900.00 when he could make more $$ off that spot with his own sponsor banner? Because it's a guaranteed $900.00!

So I think, I don't know what I think I'm too tired

If you've got something fairly unique or exclusive to advertise then you can't go wrong with The Hun. If you're trying to advertise some general themed Kara's or Cybererotica clone you probably won't make your money back.

On PPC search traffic you need to have a solid exit strategy to make money off of the non buyers. Its so damn expensive to get good keywords that its near impossible to get a good ROI otherwise.

Just my 1 and a half cents.

The hun would be a billionare if he paid 10 guys to make 40 galleries a day for him and he got all the sign ups ...

I would have to say after using goto's PPC engine for 3 months with some very targetted links and prequalifiers, it wasn't worth it, plus you have to jump through a lot of hoops, to get a listing

Maybe consider buying traffic elsewhere

If I'm not mistaken, with the 900 bucks a month banner plan The Hun expects you to host the banner with your own bandwidth. I wouldn't recomend it unless you buy a lot of bandwidth in bulk.

I believe he offers a more expensive plan where he does cover bandwidth costs though.

PPC SE traffic is good, but expect to do a lot of micromanagement. The most effective way to do it is to buy tons of different keyword phrases at low prices. It's tricky and tedious, but there are lots of people that successfully do it.

Umm correct me if I am wrong here , but yes there is something that might be lost. Max $900. Say the very least he makes $1, then $899 is lost. etc. etc.. However your logic seems skewed.

I'd try the hun, or some of the other tgps for paid advertising before using a ppc again

I'd even consider trying some of the smaller tgps first to test the waters if you are new to paid placements or ads

Just wondering is the $900 dollar spot on the hun at the top or is in the middle or bottem of the page? is it your spot only or does your banner just go into a rotation?

The banners go in a rotation for sure.... you don't think the hun sells 1 spot for 900 bucks for the month and thats it do you??

You get a horizontal banner for $900. I believe he sells approx 25 horizontal spots that all go into the rotation. The vertical spots are $1000 (I believe he sells 16 of these spots, all of which go into the rotation). Buying traffic from the hun works beautifully for me. A horizontal spot costs me about $1100 - $1150 total and I make about $3000 a month from it (I send all the traffic to my highest converting amateur teen paysite, with no free trial). However, if you have a shitty site, then naturally the traffic is not going to convert as well for you.

You should probably learn more about filtering and targeting traffic before you jump into something like that.

It varies, on some days we get 1800, and on good days we get 2500. We change
our banners daily in order to keep them as fresh as possible. The longer you use the same banner, generally, the worse it does. Our site is softcore and those banners don't always pull as well as hardcore ones, so I think that's why our numbers aren't higher. However, the traffic converts great for us (much better than the traffic coming from our regular TGP listings on the hun), so we're happy campers. We're on the waiting list for a vertical banner now!

I did it! I just sent thehun my money today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
