*Looking for Designers - Large Project suggestion/request for bids*

<<Designers/Firms: Please read ALL of the post before replying.>>>

PMC has a ton of design elements, from tours and gals to banners and ads, that we need built over the next several months. Some are needed asap, others are for planned projects down the road. Instead of getting bids on each project and jumping around designers, I would like to try something that I used to use when I was in contracts.. It's called a blanket purchase agreement or BPA, and works like this:

1. I give you a list of design item types that we will need (banners, tours, etc).

2. You provide me a confidential price list, which includes discounted costs for the items requested.

3. For a specified time period (usually 6 months to a year), we have a price-locked contract. When I need a design item, I send the job exclusively to you, and you charge me the agreed upon price for the job.

That's it. There are no guaranteed qualities, but it is a win/win situation... for the entire contract term, you get all of my graphics business, and we get a significant discount in return. The price list is confidential within the contract, so there is no pricing backlash from customers.

If you are interested in this type of contract deal, please post your company and samples of your work. If we like your work, I will contact you to discuss things further. Please hit me up with any questions.

Thanks!! :thumbsup

Stewie for something like this I would make sure that the other party is responsible, has a good reputation, and has every intention of staying in the industry for time to come. This industry seems to attract a lot of flakes, especially in the free lance sector.

seems like the contract benefits you more than the designer, it seems as though you should simply purchase one item at a sumstantially discounted price and then have no obligation to buy any more

Just trying my luck here but I know we can do what design you might want. Give me an ICQ message, maybe we can prove ourselves.

Ummmm ... what am I missing here? :Oh crap

You want a "SIGNIFICANT DISCOUNT" to give somebody your biz for 6 months?

:1orglaugh

ALOT of surprises in this thread, as to who is desparate for work right now ...

Many of my clients I have had for YEARS, and I don't have to give "SIGNIFICANT DISCOUNTS" to secure their loyalty. The quality of your work, for the price you normally charge, should be enough to keep clients coming back!

But then again, nothing in the adult biz suprises me any more ... We are the same ones who have hordes of people lining up to pay for the PRIVILEDGE to submit to TGPs, with no guarantees of listings :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

I am not looking for a piss match here ... I am just not understanding the concept of having to BUY your loyalty?

Giving a discount on bulk orders is totally normal imo :2 cents:

Any items I need over the time period would have to go through the winning bidder, and no other

This is not a new idea or practice. Mainstream businesses have been using this type of contract method to work with service providers for years. First, let me say that I don't expect anything for free here or ridiculous prices. Every time I have worked with a designer on any project, deals are made for quantities. etc. This is not different, but instead of negotiating each deal and getting bids on every project, you do it once or twice a year, and the winning designer gets the business. Its not about buying loyalty, but making longer-term deals in a highly competitive market. You are not selling loyalty, but negotiating a long-term purchase agreement.

I am not trying to screw anyone. If this type of deal does not interest you, then don't submit.

Stewie 05-06-2005 09:19 AM

Thanks for all of the submissions. I am reviewing now... :)

Thanks for the tip Sly. Of course, company rep and reliablitiy with be a major factor.
