Good Morning. I'm off to go vote.

I have to admit as a political junkie (with a degree to prove it, as my dad would say) I love being able to vote in two different national elections. British election nights are fun. I wish in the American elections all the canidates in each district had to get up and stand on the stage next to each other as the results were read.

Anyhoo...if you are British - GO VOTE.

Scott McD 05-05-2005 02:04 AM

I did.

Labour :pimp

samsam 05-05-2005 02:08 AM

only a fuck head would vote for labour & tony blair.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 05-05-2005 02:12 AM

Voting just encourages them.

well, I couldn't face a world with Bush on one side of the Atlantic and someone that actualy shares his politcal ideals on this side. You think Blair is a poodle? Tell me the conservatives that share his views on most things would be any different.

Johny Traffic 05-05-2005 02:30 AM

Ive been. Election night is my favourite night on the telly.

If you have the right to vote, then you really must vote, for so many reasons. Doesnt matter who you vote, go vote! :angrysoap

Unfortunatly there is no alternative. We have a two horse politicle system, voting tory would Im sure be worse.

That said, I live in a safe tory seat, so I voted UKIP just as my protest

It's a shame you guys can't vote directly for PM.

I don't know..I rather like the parlimentry style of voting. To me it is more interesting from a politics junkie point of view.

There was no BNP candidate where we are. Just 4 canditates, not even green piece or the monster raving loonies, no one exciting at all.

I couldnt think of anything worse than voting for the PM. Remember our PM is only the head of Goverment, not the head of state like your President

Youd have a job, hes been dead a few years now :( Shame I really like the extra these smaller parties use to bring to the election day. Really just having the three big ones and the one rich one has made the whole thing a bit less British IMO.

Sarah_Jayne 05-05-2005 09:58 AM

I just got back - I got sidetracked with work - and the polling station was actually busy!

Fanny.

I'm not voting, fuck that shit. None of them will help me in the ways I want to be helped.

All I want is for my gran to get more money, and the exchange rate to get better. I'm losing way too fucking much money right now!

beta-tester 05-05-2005 10:19 AM

Good morning Sarah. Did you vote for Tony Blair?

Only the people that live in Tony Blair's district get to vote for him. This is a parlimentry system :)

JoeA 05-05-2005 10:27 AM

Voting...

Under Labour, I feel we in the adult industry are better off... Being under a Labour council sucks...

I used to live in Tory controlled Mayfair and paid around £600 a year council tax. I moved to Labour controlled Hammersmith and Fulham and now pay almost £1700... Both figures are with the single persons discount... And both my flats have been of similar value, so in the same tax band :(

I have a poli sci degree but it does amaze me how many people in this actual country don't know that let alone in other countries.

Antonio 05-05-2005 11:25 AM

Vote Blair, not that I like him, but I like the fact that him being in power pisses that Zimbabwian idiot off - if you don't know what I'm tlaking about don't sweat it ;)

kiana 05-05-2005 11:29 AM

I voted too.

Did none of you have a "Vote for Yourself Rainbow Dream Ticket" candidate...no idea what that is though!

I saw it on the ballot and nearly laughed out loud.. it distracted me from what was already a difficult choice.

our labour candiate has had her goons running around in a car all day shouting at people, so I decided she had to be out.. but I was going to vote lib-dem and it's a two horse race here between red and blue.. so I concidered voting Conservative... but stuck to my morals in the end.

When Blair stands on the podium as the results are read do they allow him to remove his head from Bush's ass? :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

one of the things I love the most about British politics is that he - the most powerful man in the country - will have to stand on that stage with all the fringe candiates (which there will be many crazy types because it is a high profile seat) and find out his fate. Okay, he will win but for that one moment he gets to stand there with people in bird suits and trannies. It is so British in so many glorious ways.

HpicAnn 05-05-2005 02:00 PM

i heard in some news yesterday Tony Blair is supose to win...

Yeah I like parliamentary multi-party governments. They force people to compromise and form allliances, so the "nut jobs" don't get to run over everyone else.

It won't, to be honest. But everyone I know is voting labour, and to be honest everyone knows they will win the election.

If the exchange rate gets better I'll give my gran more money. I give her money every week as it is.
