Webalizer vs. AWStats
 

I'm currently using Webalizer but AWStats looks pretty nice. Should I bother switching?

I had it on one of my server when I use to host with valueweb and it was the best software in the world. I was able to make my sites grow overnight cause I knew everything about my traffic.

Now that I do my own hosting from home I haven't brought myself to spend the $1k to purchase the software. It's the only down side of doing your own hosting. I miss my free liscence : (

I agree, Urchin is laid out better and is easier to make sense of the numbers IMO

The question is much more AWStats Vs Urchin

Webalizer is nice if you dont want to spend anything and still need some basic info.

But if you are serious about making money off your sites, a good stat package is a must.

You don't have to spend anything to use awstats either.


To answer the original question you need only look to see when webalizer was last updated and when awstats was last updated.

I only wish awstats would break search terms down by engine as webalizer does as in every other respect it's much better.

The only thing that really bothers me is that AWStats seems to be 7,5 times slower when it comes to raw logfile processing compared to Webalizer. When having 7-digit uniques daily that does add up...

use urchin and stop using shitty solution :P

Fixed in the current version and not an issue if all your awstats scripts are behind potection which they should be anyway. After all who wants people nosing about in their stats or fucking about with the script?
