800x600?

Should I write in 800x600, cause when I write bigger people always complain that they use a smaller screen setting.

close .. actually you want to write in about 700x400 .... people's browsers take up part of the screen too.

if it goes longer (further down the page) it can be okay, provided they know to scroll down. but put anything important in a place so they do not have to scroll to see it.

actually, set your screen to 800*600 and then use % table widths to make your webpages, if you have a 17" or above monitor, be careful of letter size...

you can also add a second monitor (15" at 800*600) with a twinview card, and do your browsing in one screen while doing your design in the other (comes handy because you can put your working palletes in e.g. photoshop in one monitor and the pic or graphic or webpage in the other) once you get used to it, you'll love it http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif

if you're wondering, I use an evga card, http://www.evga.com

yeah, thats what I thought, I did some stuff when I would set my screen to 800x600, do you think it would be smart to do a 800x600 version and a bigger version, or would that be a waste of time.

it's about 770 x 440.. depending on browser. aol likes it low like 430/440.. i usually design for around 770x470 tho..

I'd say waste of time ...
just because then you have to worry about proper browser detection, etc. it may bite you in the long run.

yup, I agree, just go for a 800*600 with your tables set to width, can't go wrong with it, only use pixels for the tables when you're building a multipart image (ala paysite tour)

I always shoot for 750 x 600 - AOL's browser is a pain and it's slightly safer that way.
