Sometimes you have to stop and realize we ARE living in the future...

The H2R?s mighty 6.0-liter V-12 engine, which draws on BMW's advanced Valvetronic and Double-VANOS technology, is based on the 760i?s gasoline-fueled powerplant. This H2-powered high performer generates 232 horsepower, helping it to achieve a top speed of over 187 mph.

They're planning on making the 7 series available with both gasoline and hydrogen tanks with a special engine that will be able to run either fuel source within the next few years in Germany. Absolutely fantastic that companies are starting to seriously buckle down and work on non-fossil fuel burning vehicles. The sky's the limit it seems.

oh, you mean the point about how there's something new coming out that people only dreamed about in the past.. how we're advancing very rapidly into the new age of technology... how we're no longer depending on horse and buggies to get around.

Right, I must have missed that point. But you're obviously keenly on the ball with your time traveling conversations with people in the distant future. :thumbsup

Sorry fake nick, I know people from the distant future are laughing at me and anyone who's impressed with how quickly science is evolving. It's shameful, I'm hanging my head right now.

I agree with you there. I don't often agree with Denis Miller, but I must say he makes a good point when he says he wouldn't feel great driving around in a parking lot filled with mini Hindenburgs.

Rich 05-04-2005 02:59 PM

StuartD, you completely missed his point. The fact that we don't get around using a horse and buggy means we're living in the future? Come on, think about what he said.

If gasoline were brought into conception today, I would highly doubt it'd ever get the reception it got so many years ago. Many people die as a result of using it, imporper storage, accidents, what have you. We've come a long way from the Hindenburg and I'm sure by the time it's ready for a commercial market it'll be even more advanced safety wise.

Yeah, exactly... ever see what a match can do to a gas tank the size of the thanks under those gas stations? or to a tanker truck?

Sure, hydrogen can probably go boom a lot bigger but it still goes boom.

Both are scary but they're necessary.

tranza 05-04-2005 03:18 PM

Hydrogen cars are too expensive today because of all the platinum they use....

:(
