Did any of you ever do this when looking for a server:

Hit John up from blahblah hosting for a good deal! insert icq #.

I always see this posted in server threads. I cant imagine anyone actually hitting "John" up.

after some short intermezzo with Foundrynap :Oh crap I don't listen anymore to board whores. I trusted Lenny2 when he recommended Techiemedia - and I'm happy since then. so if someone trusts me with that, this would be my recommendation. :)

you have to rely on your own gut when choosing a host... whores will say anything for 5 cents of commission. Personally I found out the hard way which hosts are reliable and which aren't. I do however talk to hosting reps or owners before I decide to take an account there.

I agree 100% the board whores will say anything to sell their sig for a few bucks. I trust the recommendation from a trusted real person rather than a bs comment from a sig whore. I also got a server with www.techiemedia.com a few months ago from the recommendation from Tala. Tala is a well known stand up chick so I trusted what she said and she was right, I have been extremely happy ever since. :)
