How sad. PBS was the one place you could watch TV news from the US that wasn't completely embarrassingly apologetic towards the government and major corporations. NOW was one of the best news shows in any country. That's all about to change.

The 24/7 power of the Net has killed the regular TV news biz. I know I don't watch network news anymore and most people I know don't either. Even CNN and FOX need to start staying on their toes.

I realize that you only started watching news this decade, but in the past, say 20 years ago, America used to have the best investigative journalism on the planet. Now they have nothing, just rooms filled with models blabbing on about bullshit. It's a shame, and now the last real news agency in the country is about to go the same way. I'm sorry you're incapable of understanding the problem. There's no way to get news if no one is investigating, get it? Nothing to decipher. What you call news is really just people talking about nonsense. Fox and CNN don't produce news, they read it and give you their opinions.

Unfortunately no net news service has the budget or the resources to do much investigating of their own. All the big news agencies used to have journalists on the ground everywhere, actually getting stories of their own, that's how real information comes out. It's turned into morons reading the AP news wire.

Couldn't you imagine if the news networks operated more like the Daily Show, minus the comedy?

You might not have 50%+ of the voting population believing that they found WMD in Iraq.

The best part of the daily show is when they show the ridiculousness of the news networks. Last week or two weeks ago they showed a clip from CNN of two people arguing about whether gays should be allowed to adopt kids. The women against it said that a study showed that kids were eleven times more likely to be molested with gay parents. Of course the guy in favor of gay adoption said that he had never heard anything like that. The survey was actually just done by some nutcase using lexisnexis, it was completely false. The CNN "reporter" ends with "two very good arguments" or some bullshit like that. Stewart started yelling at her, "you're a reporter". It was classic. He often says exactly what I feel when I watch network and cable news.

Watching CNN and Fox makes people stupid, period. I think it was Yale who did the study that found that people who watch the Daily Show were more informed than people who watch Fox news. Now that's a sad state of affairs.

Even the new head of PBS/NPR that recently took over did a study that found bias in the choice of stories covered and the wording of reports and interview questions, very scewed to the left. He has been working to balance it out over the last year or so....

Of course you would favor PBS...Richy boy...as its left leaning bias was/is very obvious. I personally have yet to find any english speaking (I only understand english) news outlet...print or otherwise...that does not have a bias.

Try watching C-Span regularly Richy boy. I get much of my news from C-Span...in the form of "straight from the horses mouth"...free of the media bias/filtering.
