Contender ROCKED Tonight!!!

Yo!!!

That kid Joey Gilbert threw the fuck down like a champ tonight on Contender.

He went up against a #3 ranker and held his own. That shit was better than most prize fights I've seen. Both those men showed heart even though it was only 5 rounds.

I am hooked on this show.

Oh hell yeah you missed it!

If that show had the fights 'live' you wouldn't be able to keep people in their seats. The whole world would stop just to watch the show.

When I was a kid they had 'Friday Night Fights'. You would have thought the fights were in your own living room.

They took Joey away in an ambulance but he should not feel shame of any kind.

i just watched this show for the first time tonite.

Its OK. But the fight at end, it was decent but I don't like the stupid hollywood style editing, its fucking stupid. This is supposed to be reality TV, not a movie. I guess Im used to watching 'THe Ultimate Fighter' where they showed fights from start to finish without this hollywood crap

SIG TOO SMALL! Maximum 1200x600 button and no more than 30 text lines of ALL SIZES and COLORS. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 6240x4800 instead of a 1024x800.

If you are just going by the search engines, it looks like the Contender is not getting good ratings, but if you look closer, it's all just about the debut of the show.

Right now, it's definately a ratings contender.

NBC's regular 8 p.m. edition of "The Contender" (5.5 million, 2.5/7) produced modest numbers, but an extra helping of the boxing reality show at 9 p.m. (6.4 million, 3.3/7) improved despite the "Housewives" competition.

this is something i dont understand. it seems to be an amazing show, yet almost each week the ratings get worse.

No way. Joey did win #3 and #4 but he didn't do any damage. He got whooped in rounds 2 and 3 and I Manfredo got some good shots in round 5.

I hate to burst your bubble but it is consistently finishing 4th in its time slot, behind even Fox dreck. And I'm not happy about it because I really like the show a lot and never miss it; best fight for me was when Sergio the Latin Snake beat Ishe the loudmouth lout.

But I can guarantee you right now.............the show will not see a second season so this is it; enjoy it while you can.

I don't know man...I see Jesse knocking out Anthony next week...Setting up Peter vs. Alfonso rematch (which I think Peter will win because of - a. the motivation of being beaten by Alfonso before b. having his dad there, which he didn't have the first fight for the first time ever)

And, I think Sergio will beat Jesse in a close match in the Semis setting up the Peter/Sergio Final

Clever editing. If they showed those fights in normal speed from start to finish, instead of painfully slow-mo reels of the few punches that land, you guys would realize those fights are amateurish at BEST. You take any lame amatuer boxing match, slow-mo the few decent shots, only show one guy landing punches in some rounds, then the other guy only landing punches in the final rounds so it looks like some big dramatic underdog comeback, all while playing the cheesiest over-the-top dramaqueen music that reality tv has ever witnessed, and it looks like a great match.

Take out all the editing, slow-mo's and trickery and these matches are amateur tough-man contests at BEST.
