Newsgroups...anyone still use them?

Just curious, or have yahoo groups etc pretty much make them useless.
Also, how does one create a newsgroup?

Well, this is bad but i guess i can come clean now...

Back when i was in highschool ...quite a few years back....

My best friend and I got all this spam in our email and said to ourselves "Hey they're making money"....

so we started using a program called post agent to spam traffic cash and big-penis.com . We made about 2 grand a week for about a month before putting our tail between and going home because we were afraid about being under 18 :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Yupp, I still read a couple newsgroups.

I check them through groups.google.com

I got no idea how you create a new one though.

I should note...this was to spam to newsgroups...not email

Post Agent let you search groups available and so we would search like sex, naked, nude etc....we'd filter out the like sex.abuse and those kind of groups....

It would do like 1 every 30 seconds...so we'd literally set it , forget it...play a round of golf...and come home to check our stats...

We averaged maybe 2-6 signups a day and I was still getting radom checks til about 2 years ago :1orglaugh

Postagent

Has this program been updated, and are there similar ones, including any for MAC ? Also, does anyone have a time machine that lets me go back to 1998?

i dont think there are new post agents...and the type of programs that will do this are done by companies without much back so you'll never find a mac program.

I know there is another one i found on download.com a couple years ago but it wasnt quite as good and its so hard to spam newsgroups these days...they only let you send like one message per 5 minutes and they have all these things to detect what they consider spam and if they figure that its spam they delete all your past messages....

Better ways of making money...plus its risky which i failed to really see when i was 17 :)
