Laura Bush admits to having pirated copyrighted videos
I was watching CNN's On the Story and they were interviewing Laura Bush. The interviewer asked her if she watches Desperate Housewives and she said she no but she has a stack of DVDs of the first season she needs to get around to.
Problem is, the first season of Desperate Housewives still has a few episodes left and will not be out on DVD for several months. If she has DVDs someone either burned them from TV recordings or downloaded them from the internet. Wonder if it's same person that downloads songs for the president's ipod that they can't find at iTunes? :upsidedow |
?? A friend, a daughter, a personal assistant, etc.. can record shows you know...
|
I confess

The point I was going to get to with this thread is that if even the president and first lady do it, something's wrong with suing Joe Average for doing it. |
do TV shows fall under the same laws as movies? I tought there was a difference. In any case, who the fuck cares
|
why is Tivo legal then?

please.. we are talking about a TV show.. Not a copy of a DVD.. If you seriously think that you cannot ask a friend to record you a certain TV show.. there's a problem.. :2 cents: |

i do know that a lot of stars or famous people will get copies of shows from the studio .... even ones that haven't aired yet ... I'm pretty sure she'd be able to get a copy of the season sent to her if she wanted it ..

When youre a celebrity you get advanced and free copies of things.
Howard Stern talks all the time about watching movies home that are just hitting the theater because the studios send them to him. |
Quote:
As far as I know, copying a movie at the theaters is illegal. However, in the Betamax case, the Supreme Court ruled that making a copy of a TV show was a legal, non-infringing use of broadcast content. So its not the same |

shhh, mardigras is having fun |
My brother has a DVD burner connected to his tv, he records movies all the time. Its legal as long as you dont sell them.
:2 cents: |
Not to mention,if the fkn first lady calls up ABC and ask for the TV show on DVD, I'm pretty sure they would give it to her, even though its not released

haha thats pure non-sense... I hope we dont have laws as dumb in Canada.. Btw.. It remain to be seen if they enforce those laws in the US... I mean.. Isnt it illegal in some states to have oral sex..? Btw.. how about viewing it with someone from the same household...? Would that be a crime..? |

I can say that I have never downloaded a song or a movie, and I think Laura needs to do some hard time for that.
