They just let it go to shit or what? I haven't heard anything about it

I think MySpace killed em.

The winds of PR ceased to blow their sails, as other entrants into the SN space revealed the paradigm would not be Friendster's alone, and there was really no money coming in to do much about it.

From the looks of it, adsense is being served as their primary advertising vehicle. I gotta agree, myspace and other social networking sites got better and offered what Friendster couldn't.

although, one reason people disliked friendster was the speed of the site.

this is the same flaw for myspace, if someone would be able to build one that doesnt crash every 10 min, and loads fast, it be golden :thumbsup
